I'm looking for videos like this one that talk in depth about the realities of what people suffering from depression experience. Talks or discussions about what living with it feels like and the ramifications it can have on your life.

I think we should do away with "depression" as an illness.

As opposed to what? I think there's a gradation to it, but eventually because of the physiological effects on the brain, it does become an illness.

I'm basically saying that life is shit for many people. Depression is a reaction, like an immune response. And I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing that the overwhelming majority of "depressions" are not akin to an autoimmune diseases.

that's why there are different forms of depression. you can be depressed without having a mental illness, you can have mild depression, and then there is major depressive disorder (which i have) which is characterized by severe depressive mood and often suicidal thoughts that interfere with daily life and functioning

yes, sometimes. and sometimes it's a culmination of hereditary and environmental factors. but some people have a good life and family history and still become severally mentally ill

I agree but there is certainly a point that most people never reach where it manifest significant cognitive impairment. Yes, the majority of people that are depressed will never even have one serious suicidal thought, and I do agree that the words people used to describe it are too broad for that reason, but life is not shit for many people where they suffer like a lot of us here do, for whatever the reasons are.
