The person I'm closest to who I've spoken with many times about being suicidal has that view… she says if she has to live and put up with a shitty life, so should I, and it's unfair to escape it. I'd like to know how everyone isn't massively suicidal. Or why everyone clings to their shitty life instead of making radical changes, since they want to live so badly.

Other people should have no right to interfere with someone else's decision to ctb. If someone wishes to leave this world then that should be respected. There is nothing kind about prolonging someone's suffering, trying to keep someone in this life against their wishes is extreme cruelty. Existence shouldn't be a prison, but the way that some people act means that it can be. It's wrong to try and force people to exist.

For someone to 'save' someone else from suicide then they must be delusional as to the cruel reality of this existence. If they saw life for what it really is, then they would at least accept suicide as a rational option. The truth is that life is not for everyone. Some people don't want to exist and others are basically unable to, if they continued to stay alive then they would just experience extreme suffering. All humans will die anyway so there's nothing wrong with someone not wanting to delay the inevitable. At least to me, it would make sense to leave this world and I imagine that many others in this world feel that way as well.
