I already got through my first 24 hours. I've been drinking regularly since 18, and I'm 20 now. I usually ask my sister to fetch them for me and give her the money. I take anywhere from 5-6 1oz shots of 80 proof every other day as that is what gets me moderately to heavily drunk without nausea or a hangover (I weigh a bit less). Depending on if I had anything to eat, I still very well vomit and wake up with headaches.

I never "wanted" to quit until I watched the Huberman Lab Podcast on the effects of alcohol on the brain, body, and health. At the end of the week, I'll see if abstaining was worth it, or if the pleasure derived from drinking is too good.

I'm treating my leftover alcohol as isopropyl and using it to clean stuff. I know it's bad to constantly be reminded of something you're trying to quit, so I'm hoping to find a use that doesn't involve consuming it.

This is not me never drinking again; just an experiment. If the results are good, maybe I'll quit nicotine too.

This is also TMI, but:
I also deleted around 300gb of porn I had saved in my external hard drive. Even if I do relapse (I'm trying to quit watching porn), the amount of data saved is still incredible.

I need to do this. But I'm not sure I want to or have the strength to. I rely on alcohol for my happy moments even if they are false. But I know they also contribute to my bad ones. Wishing you luck and be good to know how it goes.

That one was a good wake-up call for me, as well. For now, I have replaced alcohol with Pepsi Max, and I'll quit that too eventually.

Try to find a passionate activity to keep you occupied during the times you usually drink, so that you don't start drinking out of boredom - and if you have such a passionate activity, you might not have any energy to do it if you keep drinking, which - hopefully - will lead you to drinking less.

Good luck on your journey!

I don't know if it applies to you, but there are some things to know about quitting alcohol.
Once you stop drinking, then you are forced to face all the reasons you drank. The regrets, the bitterness, the sadness are left to be dealt with.
The body can also go through an adjustment period where emotions fluctuate since there is not more alcohol as a stimulant to suppress or regulate them.
It is a struggle to make a life after alcohol. Still, I hope you find your peace and can enjoy a sober life if you so choose.

If you got through the first 24 hours then you got this. Let someone know if you're being serious, and be careful on day 4 and 5. In my experience of breaking substance abuse, you get through a few days and you let your guard down. Once you hit day 7 it'll feel better and be clearer. I'm wishing you plenty of strength and good health to come.

I personally wouldn't worry about the nicotine right now. One thing at a time, and honestly I'd dump the bottle. Your health is worth 100xs whatever you spent on it.

You might consider AA. They usually recommend 90 meetings in the first 90 days. They also can be a source of connection to new friends who would encourage abstinence.

Nice. Today is day 4 of not tugging the rope for me. Never managed to clear d7, maybe this time.

One week is over, and this has been the single biggest truth.

With that being said, I want to try for a month.

Sobriety is hard but worth it. You got this. And remember: even if you trip up, you're still on the road to recovery. It's not a tightrope. You haven't fallen off it. Pick yourself up and keep going.
