I'm getting ready to ctb tonight; I'm in good spirits and just trying to keep my nerves calm. I had breakfast this morning and I have been fasting the rest of the day. I am having some sleepytime tea right now and will stop drinking fluids in one hour.

I am not looking for anything here aside from a distraction for the next couple hours to go by quicker. I am looking forward to no longer living in a state of constant mental agony.

Does anyone have any tips or advice for overcoming survival instinct if/when it kicks in? I've been here and messed up the timing with my fasting, then survival instinct ruined the whole thing. How about ways to keep calm and relax for the next couple hours?

Thank you and.. I don't know, I don't have anything profound to say. I just empathize and feel for everyone here. I hope we all can find relief one way or another.

I wish I had advice for you, I don't unfortunately. But I do wish you a peaceful journey if you decide to go. Many of us hope to not be far behind.

Try drugs, alcohol, sleeping pills.
I have xanax that should help abate some of the anxiety, but I don't want to add in any drugs/alcohol because I think they may interfere with the regimen. I guess I should have practiced meditating before now, but I doubt any of us here like to be alone with our own thoughts.

Listening to music, watching stuff on the internet, playing video games? If you have a computer, you can probably distract yourself fairly well. Obviously, sometimes when you're trying to distract yourself, you can't get into the groove; my advice if that happens is to try looking at something entirely different. Like videos of monster trucks doing backflips or something.

Thank you; I appreciate you taking the time to respond with ideas. It's very kind. I tried calling the suicide hotline just to talk to someone and kill some time. The wait time is ABSURD, haha! I feel like their strategy is to frustrate suicidal people into missing their opportunity :haha:

Take a shower and that will get some toxins out, take up some time, help you breathe, and keep you relaxed-ish.

So... I was looking through SS and came across a post that someone linked to Outter Body Experiences or Near Death Experiences.. Some of them on there mention people who attempted suicide and it actually makes me feel a bit better overall.. Less anxious I suppose... Figured you might get some relief out of it..

https://www.nderf.org/Archives/exceptional.html

If I find the Original post I'll also link it because my brain is betraying me ... Literally Just saw it 3 minutes ago and I forgot where!

EDIT: Found it!!!! https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/after-death-fears.61850/post-1146292

You're night wrong! I'm gonna read through it because it's comforting to know not everyone see hell fire and the such when they almost die, especially those who decided they wanted to take their own life!

Personally, I like ASMR for relaxation to get me to relax and sleep...something like this, with slow, calm, talking, guided breathing techniques to relax, and a calming voice that starts to trail off as I get sleepier and sleepier...

Thank you! I currently have some calming music on; I will try this out if/when it stops being effective. :)

Yup! Thats me! Learn what you can about this world and the next while you are still here. Those NDERFs really help! Not all are religious and some are from suicides, gays, childbirth, bad surgeries, and self proclaimed "sinners". They all say the same things. "It's like a dream where I am actually happy and do not feel punished or judged for any reason."
