Going by the doctor to get meds prescribed. Not sure which yet, although this is the same doctor that said what I'm experiencing is just teen hormones. But ig since I'm older he'll have to take me seriously now huh
I'd recommend starting a medication journal. Write down how you are feeling often, not just at night. It makes it a lot easier to tell your doctor what is going on.
I am all for recovery and all but note that MOST medications that adjust and mess with the brain cant be stopped cold turkey and can be more damaging when off them.....
Just a fair warning for meds......
But if you want to take medications and this is what you wanted then good for you in taking steps in your mental health :D
Being young or in the "teens" is good that you are doing recovery as it can make you live as great and prosperous life when you are older :D
Also +1 on the journal
can see what is bad and good and can talk to doc for medications adjustment and side effects

I depends on the medication and how you personally react but I wouldn't say it's very physically painful to miss a dose, though long term going on and off over and over is bound to mess up something. SSRIs have a lot less side effects then SNRIs so keep that in mind when you're asking the doc about it- though if it's your first time on antidepressants they'll probably just chuck a low dose of prozac at you which is an SSRI so isn't as crazy with side effects.
The closest I've ever gotten to physical pain from antidepressant withdrawal is brain zaps where missing a dose makes you get this weird zappy bit of pain in your brain that's on and off throughout the day. I'm not sure how to explain that properly maybe someone can do a better job for me TT
Emotional pain would probably happen though, skipping doses can make you go downhill emotionally very fast if you're not careful. When you start taking your meds there's a good chance you'll feel worse before you get better as well. There's a risk of becoming more suicidal, especially if you're a young adult. This isn't because the meds wanna make you kill yourself more- it's more like you now have the energy to follow through on that impulse and are more emotionally vulnerable so can get triggered more easily.
Just make sure to surround yourself with people as much as possible, they will notice the changes in your behaviour before you do and keep a journal like the over folks have already said.
Remember that side effects can happen--and it may be worth dealing with certain ones if the med is otherwise working for you. But do always mention side effects to your doctor so they have a record of that stuff.
And it can take weeks or months to see the full benefit from a drug.
Yes, after you've taken medication for some weeks, you will experience withdrawal if you miss a dose. If you're taking SSRIs, it's really not remarkable. You'll have headaches and be nauseous and feel like passing out for a day or two.
