So apparently even a 6 year old can successfully intentionally hang herself with a skipping rope and an 8 year old just did it with a scarf, some woman used a telephone cord and a cop just hung himself at home earlier this year. So why cant I seem to get this simple task right? I was actually kind of hoping I would black out on a practice run and get this over with but it wasnt happening. I cant imagine a child being able to do this unless they completely suspended themselves but the 8 year old did a PS, he actually survived but died later in the hospital

Hey, I know about that 6-year-old girl! I found her when looking up the youngest suicide ever. I've also seen vacuum cleaner cord & nylon belt & exercise resistance band, so literally anything rope-like can work. Other notable suicides I've found involve a 15-year-old Russian boy who cut his head off with a chain saw -- absolutely stunning! Or death by ball point pen -- one guy shoved a pen into his chest and that failed, so he shoved in pen #2 which hit his heart causing him to bleed to death. Another guy shoved a pen into his eye socket and fatally hit his brain (not instant death, but he got dead eventually). Suicide by broken wine bottle also stands out, showing us that death is available even if you don't own a knife. And some years ago at a local gun range we had a guy who killed himself with a wussy rented .22 pistol (was .44 Mag ammo just too pricey?) And then there is Amy Winehouse who died from drinking vodka, and she wasn't even trying! No other drugs involved either. Or there was a 12-year old girl who ordered an Uber which took her to a parking garage where she jumped to her death before sunrise, before mom & dad woke up to find her missing.

It's quite stunning all the ways people have managed to die. They can be really young, and their equipment can be weak as hell, or most bizarre, or even literally free and still they get the job done. And I get to feel like a total failure for still being alive because I can't do with a 1st grader could. Seems determination matters more than materials, unless you're Winehouse in which case you can die effortlessly.

I don't mean to get all pro-lifey on everyone, but 6 year olds killing themselves makes me sad. Hopefully they're in a better place, whatever that might be.

Imagine what must be going on inside the head of someone who's ready to shove a pen into his eye. I seriously hope I never get there, it doesn't sound like something to be envious of.

I'm always extremely suspicious of childrens' suicides and accidental deaths. Known too many abusive, conniving adults.

The chainsaw story, thats insane. I guess there are a million ways to die but most are gonna be painful.

A guy I used to work with committed suicide by train last year, he got his wheelchair wheels jammed into the track, he was depressed and physically disabled by a car accident a year earlier, two women tried to get him out of his chair but they couldn't for some reason and the train hit him and clipped one of the women in the arm. My co workers were highly suspicious of suicide because we knew him and his mental state

Probably because you're going for quick and painless with immediate loss of consciousness, and they didn't mind the 10+ minutes of suffering.

Maybe look into changing your method if the one you chose isn't working for some reason.

There are a lot out there, and hanging just might not be the one for you.

I hope you find peace regardless.

Hey maybe your not as suicidal as you think, might be a subconscious spec of hope fuelling your SI, I think that's what I've got going on, I want it all to stop but I still hope I end up happy in life. Idk tho man I hope you're able to find peace b.c it's fucking agony not being able to make it stop and not being able to get better

I'm in the same boat.

I personally, have been suicidal so long, so consistently that i'm incredibly apathetic. I think people who go through with it so quickly have more of a sudden collapse where they still feel intense sadness that they aren't used to. I've lived with 20 years of depression, it's the norm for me.

On the days I attempted (partial suspension) they weren't necessarily bad days in comparison to my average day (which is terrible), so I wasn't motivated or pushed hard enough beyond my norm to fully commit. That said, I think partial is set up for failure it gives you too much time to think about all the reasons not to (guilt, fear, & hope creep in).
