So, like most of you already know, suicides are spiking up (IE Japan who lost almost 28k people to suicide this year, with a 40% increase compared to last year).
Italy is suffering suicides spiking too, especially very young people. And I keep seeing people in their 50s, 60s and even 70s asking "what's the reason so many young people decide to suicide?".
I mean, regardless of personal issues that can drive someone, what's the reason for someone of my age to truly enjoy life? 2008 crisis, living in 6 in a 15 mq flat, a pandemic, 2020 economic crises, global warming, job market that pays you 3.5€ per hour (current salary in south italy), houses that cannot be payed, etc.
What's the point? How can you enjoy life if there's no positive outcome?

And the number will keep increasing because new generations realize the world sucks and technology is not helping at all.
Sure, we can communicate instantly with any person all over the world but things like social networks end up making people more depressed.
It's as if "happiness" is the same as "fakeness" now.

I wish I could see a positive outcome but I don't. Things are only going south.

Crisis of 2008, 2010 (real estate), we reached 6 million unemployed (Spain), 2012 economic rescue, cuts in health, education, etc., crisis of 2020. And among all of them, always precarious jobs. The golden age of capitalism is over. From the reconstruction of Europe around 1999 or 2000 I calculate. Now I found out that they are speculating on water in the stock market. Black future

Sure, that's what this crisis is about. Between the fact that the population is very old, they will die of viruses or anything else, technology replaces humans in many jobs, and this mega economic crisis. I estimate that by 2030 half of the population will have died. In fact, in the optimun population trust environmental lobby, they calculate that number of inhabitants so that we do not overcharge the planet, don't you believe me? read his page.

I don't blame capitalism...for sure it hasn't ruined germans' childhood or swedens'. I blame Italy for being full socialist until 1981 and then spending money like it grows on trees.
Capitalism isn't neoliberism, I actually love the mixed market Norway or Sweden have. Or the netherlands, or Germany.

I live in Spain, what are you going to tell me about corrupt politicians? We have a socialist government.

Yes I know. I don't vote for that. I do not want to be a participant in this farce. I do not believe in democracy as it was established in Spain.

I think there are 3 possibilities for covid and the obvious way it's been over played.

1) It really is a dystopian future where the overlords will kill us off and it's being done to get to that point.

2) The world is really ecologically on the brink because of us (animals and plants are becoming extinct at the fastest rate ever) and so we need to change how we live if anything is going to survive - no one will accept less unless they have no choice, so covid is the mechanism.

3) A combination of the 2 above.

But for us ordinary people I think it looks very bleak indeed.

People don't need to struggle for their living so they have more time to think the quality of their lives. And here we are. Did you think a loving partner would save you from misery for example? (sorry, I was just writing to topic of do you believe in love) Perhaps people who lack of food thought the same about good portion of food. When we have fullfilled needs of our bodies to stay alive we still have our minds waiting its portion too.

I do not think it is like that. Before, job opportunities were greater. Any idiot supported a family on one salary. Today you need two at least. Productivity has not stopped growing and yet since the 1990s wages have stagnated. There is a clear imbalance in the labor market.

Oh don't worry, most likely it is my English which is too bad :)

I tried to say that before people were more occupied by wonder how they stay alive. You were kind of in a situation "I'll be happy if I get food".
Most of us don't need to worry about that anymore, now we can focus on keeping our mind healthy and it is not that easy always. You have possiblity to look around the world and see the injustice and get upset from it, or you can get upset from unfair things happening to you. Doesn't matter, but both can lead unhappiness, depression and to want to die.
