I need a distraction, something big that I can sink hundreds of hours into. Preferably singleplayer for social anxiety reasons but I'm open. I just finished my living dex in pokemon at the same time as 100%ing another monster hunter game and I'm feeling lost.

i love the bioware games, mass effect and dragon age. bg3 is another good one. cyberpunk was fun to 100%, so were dishonoured 1 and 2 and deathloop. outer wilds.

idk about specifically monster hunter games though, @Dr Iron Arc might have some suggestions.

Persona 5 and Fire Emblem Three Houses are good .I played them during lockdown, and they really helped distract me from life ✨🎮

I'm not a Monster Hunter guy but for Pokémon you could always try shiny hunting. It's a little monotonous in Z-A but it's actually super easy just fly to the same spot over and over.

Lose yourself in grinding or story as well? I was nuts about Final Fantasy as a kid and found them very engrossing. First one was 7 but made it through 1 to 12 at some point (not 3 because wasn't released in the west for a while or 11 which was MMO). Still replay some every now and then.

Shiny hunting in Z-A is a little easier since shinies don't despawn, and there are already methods specific to areas 😀

I sank 300 hours in Moon alone, and there's always something to do postgame, be it shiny hunting, Nuzlockes, or basically anything you find challenging and enjoyable.

The obvious answer here is Stardew Valley assuming you haven't played it already.

What about Kingdom Come: Deliverance & Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an action role-playing video game set in an open-world environment and played from a first-person perspective. It utilises a classless role-playing system, allowing the player to customise their skills to take on roles such as warrior, bard, thief, or a hybrid of these. Abilities and stats grow depending on what the player does and says through branched dialogue trees. During conversations, the time a player takes to make a decision is limited and has an effect on their relationships with others. Reputation is based on player choices and therefore can bring consequences.

I'm currently playing ghost of yotei and it's very good, definitely very long game, if you have a PS5 I recommend it.

Shenmue 1 + 2, Deadly Premonition, Dragon Quest 5, Persona 4, Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts, Boku no natsuyasumi, Akiba's Trip, Shin-chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation -The Endless Seven-Day Journey, Disaster Report and Raw Danger, Dragon's Dogma 1+2. Not all of these are long RPGs, but they are very atmospheric and you can lose yourself easily.
