I guess if this existed, I would have already seen a thread but I'm desperate so I'll just ask anyway.

Does anyone know of any type of volunteer program where people help you compile your medical records and arrange to travel to Pegasos for free? (I mean free help, from what I can see, Pegasos is still about $12,000 for all the arrangements but their website says they're working on financial help for late 2021, not sure if this is still the timeline).

Why can't there be assisted death scholarships for terminal and intractable patients?

I know of Exit International, but I don't have the money for a membership and the lady who left me voicemails sounded very irritated, I didn't get the impression she was super open to looking into that type of thing.

Basically no one in my family agree but if I ever found a way to go on my own with the help of someone who was pro-choice, it would be a lifesaver, or should I say deathsaver lol.

So, if this ever exists, or if there are ever any lurkers on here willing to help, please let me know/PM me if you see this post I guess.

They said that they may be unable to help me, but if I want I can try but the expenses aren't refundable in any case.

Something like "I don't think we will be able to help you dying but if you want you can try, pay us, submit to our our doctors and see what they say. By your age & situation I would advice you to avoid to expect too much". Apparently they only help people with terminal ills, not someone that knows that there isn't a future for him/her. By theirs views I would wait to get 20/30 years older and retry. I'm 40+, with very long time depression and I don't have strength to afford the rest of my life and in this case I don't think they can be helpful, or, at least, this is my own experience.

Someone with a different experience?

Does anyone know how to contact Pegasos other than Email?
I've made the initial VAD Deposit, but after contacting them via email, they stopped responding since February 24th.
If the VAD is not approved, I would like the partial refund back and seek alternatives to CTB. But I'm starting to worry due to the stopping of response from their end.

On top of the thread you will see a box that says watch, just click it and it will ask you if you want to watch with or without email notifications. Press the one that you want and save.
It is 10,000 euros converted to 12,000 usd
12,000 USD is a lot of money. That's outrageous! So the wealthier can die and the poor, as per usual, have to suffer...ugh!

It will cost even more out of pocket, since the law there requires that you have someone that knows you be there to ID your body. That ruled out my being able to use them. I had no one that I could take.

Don't worry. They always reply. Don't show any sign of desperation, anguish or anxiety. I know it's not easy but they receive a lot of emails on a daily basis and they usually don't answer right off the bat on purpose. They are going to contact you in the upcoming days, next week perhaps. They are serious. Your VAD is being evaluated and assessed. They can easily turn down your VAD application if they sense / notice something is not right. Stay calm and collected. That's the only organization that can offer and provide VAD in a short period of time. Even a few weeks in some cases. They just wanna make sure you are determined and serious. Hope you get through and get the approval.

May I ask how you know about this? Have you or someone you know been accepted? What do you mean about dont sound desperate, since usually severly ill people are desperate? Cant I show it to them? Thanks so much!

Hi! May I ask do you have physical illness when you applied for vad? Why did you choose pegasos?

@dropintheocean A relative of mine applied for VAD several years ago. I helped him doing the process. Your condition, you background, your age, your medical reports, your own description about the condition and how are you coping with that, etc will determine whether or not you'll be accepted. I know it's not easy to stay calm in those circumstances, but it definitely helps when it comes to apply for VAD.

10,000 euros lol. If I had 10,000 euros, I would not commit suicide. Not a huge amount for Europe but if you're in a shitty country in Asia it is. With that money someone can reschedule their life.

As far as I am concerned, the money is not relevant here. Money can not always buy happiness either, let alone cure certain illnesses or end the suffering endured by some people. It is the only organization providing VAD for non terminal conditions or accepting ones rejected elsewhere. They also make the things much easier by simplifying the process so that people applying for it can get the approval in a few weeks / months. They are also fighting for VAD and by doing so they are constantly litigating in court, facing lawsuits, etc. It might seem irrelevant now but in the big picture it's an important thing and who knows, maybe in the future VAD will be normalized and accepted by society. That´s why is so crucial to support such organizations which, albeit not perfect, are trying to help people to end their suffering / pain.

"As far as I am concerned, the money is not relevant here." Sorry but I don't think you have any idea why I want CTB. If I had 10,000 euros, I could go on living for my mom. So money can be really important in some situations.

My comment was not a "general" criticism of Pegasos. Specifically about my angle. I partially agree with your comment, but still for someone living in Asia, 10,000 euros and other costs are far from realistic.

Agreed with that. I´m sure they'll provide financial assistance in the future, perhaps they are not in a position to do so right now.

Certainly. Pegasos and Dignitas European organizations. So their prices can actually be considered normal for Europe. I think if we take into account the travel, companion and other fees, it could be a total fee of 15,000 euros. In the country where I live, someone who earns the lowest wage (half of the workers in the whole country gets this wage) needs to work for 4.5 years without spending any money in order to save 15,000 euros :) But it is not possible for someone who earns the lowest wage to save money. Even getting an N from D takes 2 years if they can. I hope one day euthanasia will be legal in Asian countries.

Did you pay 5000 dollar deposit ? Or 100 dollar membership ?

Just theoretical question here … could someone take out a cash loan saying it's to buy a vehicle from a private seller? I've taken out enough to cover all Pegasos expenses including travel in a cash loan to buy a truck before… bank required basically no verification of the truck I was buying if I remember correctly… once you're dead the loan can't be burdened onto your family, it can just be taken out of your bank account / assets if you own that value… potential option for those who don't have 12 G's lying around?
