  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Recently I've been looking into doing an Ancestry family tree but all it seemed to discover is that my ancestors were just as suicidal as I am. Many of them cbt, two of them even off the same bridge. I knew my family was prone to mental illness but had no clue it stretched that far back.
Does anyone else here come from a long line of depressed/mentally ill suicidals?

Yes. Much of my mom's side of the family were/are either addicted to hard drugs, committed suicide, or both. When you factor in that addiction is often a sign of mental illness, and between the suicides, I'd say there's probably a long history of mental illness on that side of the family.

Interesting---But not in my family, my father was a genealogist looking up our ancestors back to the 1600's, no history of suicide--I will be the first

Mental illness runs all throughout on my father's side. My aunts and uncles, then my cousins…all have Depression and/or anxiety. No one I know of has CTB.

Having kids is probably not in my future anyways, but I guess that's for the best. If it's hereditary like that, then I'd be terrified to have a child go through what I'm dealing with.

Yeah as long as you type in enough information to start with it shows quite a lot of information. Doesn't always show cause of death as sometimes its ambiguous/ can't be found but for most of mine it did.

I've told myself since I was a teen that I would never have kids if I was still struggling with my mental health, having suffered severe emotional abuse from a depressed suicidal father and then going on to become depressed and suicidal myself really isn't a great combo.
Long as I know it, damned on both sides.
Yeah the way I see it the odds were always stacked up against me
