I'm sure there is a line around the corner of people who "knew" her who jump right to "she's too pretty to die like that." As if it would be okay for an "ugly" girl to kill herself.

Rant engaged... I hate all of these "pageants" and "scholarship competitions" or whatever euphemism they use to parade or encourage parading of young women and young girls around for their looks. Sure, they have "talent" competitions and "questions" and "interviews" and put that lipstick on the pig to make it seem like it isn't about parading women around for the benefit, almost entirely, of men to ogle and fantasize about them.

Yes, I'm a man... but I have always found these things completely distasteful. Young girls and women used and abused, and worse, gaslit into thinking she is in power and is wielding her "strength" to take back control... through parading in a slinky evening dress or prancing in a skimpy bathing suit or performing for men... And you know, these things famously have all manner of men leering and sneaking access to the changing rooms and everyone knows and just accepts it as part of the deal. Why, our current President used to own a pageant and routinely bragged about the access he had to dressing rooms of young girls whenever he wanted. Look that shit up.

Even if a woman thinks she is choosing to participate in this... that she is in charge... she really isn't. What comes of previous "winners" of these things? You almost never hear of any of them again, unless something bad happens... or something tragic like this.

And you know... she probably tried to talk to people around her... family, people she thought were friends, maybe she had a manager or an agent... and those people would almost certainly sat with her, feigned concern, and "prepared" her for whatever next event she was supposed to do... propped her up, medicated her if necessary, and pointed her at the next thing.

She sounds very much like a person who was in pain for a while, tried hard to communicate that with people around her that she thought cared, and one day realized nobody cared, they only cared when she performed... and that day she couldn't take it anymore. That's a person who could have been saved if anyone cared to listen and think of her rather than the performance.

I'll have to spend some time there when I'm in the right frame of mind. I think when you see the world as it is, and not how you wish it were or how people try to gaslight you into thinking it is... it's hard to unsee it... and if you're a sensitive soul, like it seems she was, it is really tough to deal with that reality.

We share a lot of similar philosophies on life.
Beauty pageants, especially ones that involve young children, really sicken me. There's more to a person that how they look.
Then watching them get exploited then discarded by commercialism is even worse.
