I have BPD and experience this. I get attached so quickly and wholeheartedly that it often doesnt end well. Even in friendships I become very full on. In my case, I don't have alot of positivity in my life so any attention I get I will be completely hooked. But eventually I start splitting. One minute I completely adore somebody and they can do no wrong, the next I despise them and they're dead to me. And then back to adoring them. It can be really confusing and overwhelming.

I wish I could offer some advice on how to manage it, I've heard that DBT can help people with BPD regulate their relationships. Maybe try and find a DBT work book or PDF online?

Yes all I ever do is get into intense relationships that never last and cause me or them damage. I've had enough. I'll never be satisfied with what I have. But that's insane and makes life a constant treadmill of drama that I need but I know is killing me. Only people with bpd get what I mean.

I don't seem to push people away but if I am rejected or left I hit rock bottom. If someone hurts me enough or pisses me off than yeah usually they are dead to me.

BPD typically stands for "borderline personality disorder", not bipolar disorder, at least in North America.

I definitely used to be like this. Over time, though, I have learned to "talk myself down" and try to avoid getting overly invested in a relationship too early.

I try to make sure I am not the first person to call or text all the time. I try to gauge where the other person really is and match their intensity.

Same! I met other one with BPD here on the forum and I fell in love in a short time... I think he's already CTB, he didn't even say goodbye, that was in December, and even today I'm still devastated :aw:

I was diagnosed with a mood disorder several years ago but I've often wondered if I was misdiagnosed or possibly also suffer from BPD. For myself personally, the feeling of "falling in love too fast" I feel applies to a lot of things not just people.

I have BPD. I have in the past I have gone into friendships way too fast, too hard, too soon. Even if our personalities don't match. I still give way too much of myself. My time etc.
I have been with the same man since we were 21 , we're early forties now, so can't speak from the love aspect. But from the friendship aspect I know how much of a pain having BPD can be in my life. I get way too attached to quickly and when I feel they've wronged me my emotions turn to hate quickly.
They have now renamed BPD to EUPD.....Emotionally unstable personality disorder. In UK anyway

I have been diagnosed with BPD but I get super moody quite a lot. I wonder if I have an undiagnosed mood disorder. I mean I get really moody. Everyone hates my bad moods.
I used to take anti psychotic for BPD but stopped taking them a year and a half ago. Quetiapine. It did it's job for my BPD but was really rough on my body. I put on weight, was zoned out a lot. It also raised my hbA1c blood sugar levels to borderline pre diabetic. ( the psychiatrist who prescribed me quietiapine never warned me about this) I'm glad I stopped taking them. Now I have to continu e to lose weight. My head doesn't feel so fogged up now. Should I start a thread about Quetiapine? Would anyone be interested in that?

I was diagnosed with BPD and that's why I stay away from people. I was hurt too often and I can't open up to people anymore, emotionally. I think I lost the ability to fall in love because of that. I just don't feel anything anymore because of my fear to get hurt again.

This is what I've done too as a way to protect other people and myself. I used to when young wonder how those homeless people ended up that way, now I realize it's likely at least some of them probably have these kinds of conditions. I still opened myself up to a situationship and I ended up getting very heartbroken recently. My guard was totally down because I was in a place where when this person came in to my life I was pretty depressed and they gave me something to look forward to because the sex was amazing lol! But then things ended abruptly I won't go into why. Partly the bpd and other reasons, for all I know he was also a personality disordered guy as well. Superficial charm, love bombing lol! It's likely haha!

I took quetiapine for awhile too. It helped with the mood a little but it messed up my sleep patterns and motor functions. And the fog was horrible.

Yes! The brain fog for me was next level crippling! It did make me sleep, but I had to dedicate 12 hours to sleep to get it out of my system. Otherwise I'd still be groggy the next day. I was prescribed Quetiapine by a psychiatrist for BPD. When I did research on it, I found that it was for other psychiatric disorders, so I'm confused about why I was prescribed it. It did get rid of the auditory hallucinations I was experience ing.

I can't find a therapist who is willing to listen to me when I say I have BPD because I'm "high functioning", but this is exactly what happens to me. If I find anyone who is interested in me more than casually and will talk to me all day, I fall for them 100 percent of the time.

I gained 60 pounds on quetiapine, but the worst was random acts of lactation! Seriously???

Same. I want so badly to be close to people but it's not healthy for anyone. It hurts less, or at least more consistently, to be alone.

I gained weight on quetiapine too! That drug was rough on my body. Be careful of it raising your Hba1c! I became pre diabetic because of it.....thanks psychiatrist who prescribed it to me......thanks for not telling me about that important detail! I never lactated though! I didn't know it could do that!

That drug was rough on my body.

From what I've learned, apparently quetiapine is an anti-emetic as well, so it's handy for those who plan to use the SN route for their CTB. I may have to go get a refill for my prescription then. Not sure if it works the same as the XR version.

I wasn't given the XR version. But I've read about it. I was prescribed the regular version. I have to check out what anti emetic means. I say the drug was rough on my body because of how it raised the hormone that makes you crave carbs non stop. It made me put on weight and possibly have metabolic syndrome. It also made me pre diabetic. I have insulin resistance now. It's hard to lose the weight, but possible. :-(
