I have what I need to ctb. I just need to pull trigger and hopefully begin a new and better journey. What do most people do? I live alone with my dog so I need some advice there on how to make sure she's not going to be left alone in the event that I'm not found immediately. My ex always said that he would take her if anything would happen to prevent me from caring for her. Should I schedule a text for a few minutes later and if I don't do it or not successful I can delete it? I would do an email but I am afraid that he wouldn't see it or end up in spam folder.
Should I type something up for what happens to my belongings and what is left in my banking account? If I don't then who has the most rights to it? I have a lot of valuable electronics and computer equipment and stuff.

Depends. If you care about your stuff, then by all means organize something. For me, it would be a waste of time.
Perhaps the best way to take care of your dog would be to just drop it off at your ex house with some excuse.

If I were to just type something up saying that I want everything to go to my cousin, would that even be legally binding if my mom or ex made a big deal about it? My dog, if I were to drop her off with my ex he would know why right away. I have no poker face and he would just ask me a million questions. I was thinking of maybe finding a really nice place to board her for a couple of days and then leave instructions for him to pick her up there, how does that sound?

I don't know your mother or ex and don't know if they would respect your wishes. In my suicide notes, I have told my parents to give my collection of Dylan dog comics to my cousin. I'm sure they would oblige but I can't say for your mother and ex.

As for dog, I really don't know. Maybe pay a dog sitter to keep her at her house and then before you ctb send a timed message or email to your ex about the dogs location.

Go to your bank and tell them that you want to name a POD (Pay On Death) beneficiary. It's fast, easy, and free to list a beneficiary on a bank account. I've done so for the last 15 years.

Do you know if you can do this by phone or if it has to be in person?

What is your method? You mention in your post what would happen in the event your body isn't found for a while, so I was wondering how you're planning to end it. Either way, as others have mentioned in different threads/posts, you can try setting up Boomerang for your email and set a time when the emails are to be sent, ie enough time after you've passed but not so much time your dog is alone for days or weeks.

I'm planning to use Boomerang myself, so my body doesn't rot in this apartment. Though, I suspect after a missed appointment, my therapist would call my sister and my sister would attempt to reach me. My not answering the phone would set things in motion and I guess a welfare check would be made by the police, by which time they'd be finding my body.

I plan to send a delayed email to my ex husband, to go over financial particulars and to emphasize I want to be cremated, no funeral, etc. I saw my father the other day and somehow we got on the topic of the possibility of one being a vegetable in a hospital bed, and I told him no way, I wouldn't want to "live" like that and if it ever came down to it, please pull the plug. My sister knows this about me, too.

My method will either be night night or hanging, so the email I plan to send to notify my ex and essentially start the process of sending police/EMS over to remove my body will be sent about 2 hours post death. I think a 2 hour gap is enough time for me to successfully CTB and not have my body rot here. Trying to be as courteous as I can for the landlord and neighbors I guess.

If I was CTB'ing in a forest some place, I'd still send out a delayed email to my ex. As much as the thought of just disappearing is comforting, in reality I know my father and sister would be wondering where the hell I was and I don't want to put them through more than I already have.

TLDR; Try using Boomerang to set up and send a delayed email with instructions so your dog isn't alone for however long and the "clean up" process can begin.

Do you know how long it takes for the body to start to rot?

Also I am nervous about the delayed email. Like what if it sends early or an algorithm catches it as dangerous or something. This is paranoid right?

I would test out Boomerang beforehand, if you have a second email account. I have gmail and yahoo, so I plan to send a delayed email from my primary gmail account to the yahoo account, just to make sure it actually works and the timing is right.

How long till the body starts to rot? Well, it depends on a few things. Climate of where you CTB is the big factor. In my apartment, I've got 2 air conditioners going; without the a/c, decomposition would start up more quickly (the smell, the attraction of insects, etc.). When one dies outdoors, in summer, the heat really induces decomposition. Indoors is a different situation entirely as you've some control over the temperature. I've read stories about elderly people who pass away of natural causes in their apartments and aren't found till their mostly bones in a chair, which amazes me as the smell of a decomposing body is said to be quite distinct.

My bank it had to be in person but it was really easy, just a form I had to sign. I did need to provide the social security number of the person I was making POD but they didn't need to be there or sign anything.

Ok thanks. Crap, if you need SSN then I guess I can't do it. Cause I don't have the person's ssn and have no excuse to ask for it.

Not sure if all banks are the same, maybe you don't for yours? Maybe you can find out on Google or give them a call to ask. I think it would be worth checking into to make things easier for your family, but maybe that's just my own crazy talking. I'm in process of packing up my entire condo so my family doesn't have to deal with it, even though it's seriously adding to my stress. Best of luck to you!

They may or may not want a SSN. I think that's going to depend on the particular financial institution so you should ask just to be sure. And even if a SSN is needed, that's really not something that raises red flags. I named my friend as beneficiary back in 2016 and she knew -- and I wasn't planning on dying back then. It's just prudent planning.

I think I would be laughed out of the bank if I did that right now. But it's a very good idea. I read that somewhere else on here.

Why would they laugh at you? I'm confused.
Just because I'm so broke. Although I haven't had an overdraft in years, which is a miracle. But money usually comes in one hand and then goes out the other for me. Another little piece of the puzzle bringing me here. It is really good info to know though, because I could die at at time when I just got paid, and that would be at list a little chunk of change for someone. So I still appreciate the info.

I called my bank and they do require SSN. I think asking the person for it would raise flags because people know I am not in a good state right now. So I will just have to skip it. I'll move most of my money to an online account I have that lets you name a beneficiary easily.
