Fear of death is common and yet we all.do die!.

Humankind has a poor relationship with death and accepting that we all die eventually however that maybe. We fear the end of life even though we all must meet that end. From my situation, the end is getting closer as this disease process is consuming my physical body. My plan to cbt is in place but i will not detail it here. I have always feared the death process but i hope my rapid end will spare me that protracted painful death.

I watched grandparents die of lung cancer. I've watched my own mother die in a hospice while I held her hand.

Me? I want agency over my passing. They had no control over the process, but I want it so bad that it hurts.

I have the feeling too. It must have been difficult for you. I watched my mum die of lymphoma. I feel liberated in knowing that i can end my life if i can.

I think that many people fear death as this existence is all we know after all. I personally do not fear death as it is the end to all my suffering and nothing can hurt me when I am dead, instead I only fear life. I believe that there is no point to fearing death. Death is inevitable for us all, and if you think about it, life is just one big distraction from death. Life is just a pointless experience that we go through for the sake of it, everything is so meaningless and temporary.

I think a lot of people don't fear death so much as they fear pain and the transition period from life to death. I think a lot of people, even those without speific reasons, would be okay with the thought that they could go to sleep and just never wake up.

Don't we all know death more than life? We were dead billions of years until our very short life.

Yes the pain, lack of.dignity and autonomy. . A friend said to me that theres few people who had peaceful deaths. I think hes right. Most people i knew, who died from disease or old age died awfully. People that died in accidents died quickly and several people who cbt were gone quickly. There was no protracted pain.

When i visit the.forests, i feel peace. The recycling of nature, of which we are too. Trees can be hundreds. of Years old. We too are carbon based, made of the same.cosmic elements that we share with all things. Our life is a mere blink of an eye in comparison.

I'm only afraid of it because we have to go through it alone. And with ctb even more so because we can't have a loved one sit with us and hold our hand.
I have N, but I'm also still a little bit afraid of failing and ending up with brain damage. But mostly I'm just afraid of going through death alone especially since my parents are still alive and etc. I don't feel like there's people waiting for me on the other side. I don't even believe in an afterlife but somehow I feel like if I had close family go before me it's like I'd be returning home to them but I don't even have that. I have grandparents who have passed away but one I never really knew and the other well...he's the only one that would be waiting for me. Idk how to explain.

You can get brain damage with N?

I don't know. That's what I'm afraid of. They say you can't but I've never seen any scientific literature that says you don't get any damage.

I've been trying to get a good answer on that too. Namely if you vomit while conscious, or while unconscious. Wouldn't that mean you only have partial the amount of N in your system, and it won't kill you all the way but have potential to harm you, permanently that is? The PPH says you should force yourself to vomit the rest if you vomit even a little bit because "it is impossible to know the amount left in your system and it would be dangerous to proceed" (not quoted exact word for word but close). What the danger is, they don't say, and they don't mention brain damage. I have also heard that you still die even if you do vomit. Very befuddling when there is different information, wish I had a definitive answer.

I think the main source of brain damage with N is if you get saved in the small time frame from between when you stop breathing and die. Since it takes about twenty minutes of oxygen deprivation for the brain to fully die I imagine if you get saved during those twenty minutes while the brain is dying but not yet dead that's the main source. I don't know if a large amount of N itself would cause brain damage. I wish I had an answer too.

OP is so correct. I hope the culture of embracing death will grow and become normal to the point that we have celebrations for people who end their lives by their own hand.

Also I think if the amount of N in your system only brings you partway through that phase you talk about between respiratory arrest and death. That's pretty much what I was concerned about.

I'm not worried about that tbh. You're either breathing or you're not. Even if you're breathing a small amount I think brain is ok. But I'm not a doctor.

But couldn't you stop breathing, then partway resume breathing again? Then wouldn't brain damage occur?

That's true I didn't think about that. But I haven't heard of that happening...
