Personally movies are one of the only things that bring some meaning / joy to my life so I'm genuinely interested in what movies people here really like / would recommend.

I'd say at the moment my favorite movie is Fallen Angels. I was hooked by the carefully chaotic pace and composition of its scenes from the first minute and it's just such a unique nocturnal movie about loneliness, love, and the fleeting, tragic, magical senselessness of life. I'd recommend it to everyone.

Some other favorites of mine include Parasite, Burning, Drive, Good Time, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, Schindler's List, Joker, Dune Part 1+2. Though I still have so so many to watch.

The Guilty with Jake Gyllenhaal, literally all of the John Wick movies, Wall E, Iron Man, Pirates of the Caribbean, Groundhog Day, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent... There's waaay more but those are some of the first that come to mind!

Not a specific one but I love horror movies! Literally give me any chance to watch one and I will say YES! Psychological or slasher.

Spirited Away might be my actual favorite movie though.

My favorite movie ever is The Muppets (2011). I saw this movie in theaters during my senior year of high school and it was such a pivotal point for me. I cry everytime they perform Rainbow Connection at the end.

Another of my favorite movies is also from 2011: Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Don't get me wrong, Dawn and War are extremely amazing cinematically but this first one has a such a good sense of buildup and also feels especially relevant thanks to the pandemic.

A very recent movie to come out that might be really close to becoming my favorite is Godzilla Minus One. I'll have to rewatch it to see how much more I like it but I guess me not killing myself in 2022 made it easy to identify with a kamikaze pilot who feels ashamed and guilty for surviving WWII. Oh yeah and Godzilla is there.

Big fan of Japanese cinema myself.

Kurosawa has some amazing and pessimistic movies — especially Ran, and the bad sleep well.

Tokyo story is also amazing.

Sansho the bailiff

Night and fog in Japan

Also the Chinese movie an Elephant sitting still is a masterpiece of modern drudgery and pessimism; if anyone likes that movie they'll probably like Satantango and the turin horse by Bella tarr — another phenomenal director.

Doraemon: Nobita's Secret Gadget Museum & basically any pokemon movie before 2010 (Darkrai, arceus and the jewel of life, the first movie) because of nostalgia. They have such great music and I love the characters.
Apollo 13 and The Martian because I like space and the tension was exciting.
Night of the living dead because I got to watch it with someone special

This is a controversial choice, do you mind explaining why you like it?
I was joking, I am not pedo, it didn't make any difference to me. In fact I really liked John wick, Godfather ,007 movies series and every movie Ryan Reynolds have ever made.

This is a question I've always struggled with because there's just so many good ones out there, but one movie that sticks out to me is Wall-E. I must've seen it over 100 times at this point and it's just always stuck with me. As I've grown up, I don't know if It's my favorite anymore but it's the closest I can give to an answer since at least at one point in time it was my favorite.
