Discussion favorite emo/post hardcore/rock music?

I've always been a huge music nerd and love stuff like (emo)tional hardcore, metalcore, hc, post hc, sasscore, mathcore, or even just alt rock in general. Any favorite bands, albums, or songs?

I personally love brand new, glassjaw, fear before (I have ohps album dancers tattooed), my chemical romance, braid, jimmy eat world, christie front drive, alexisonfire, tower of Rome, the blood brothers, Thursday, e town concrete, on broken wings, American nightmare, have heart, and like so many more. I really enjoy talking about and listening to music to distract myself from thoughts of sh, starving, or ctb.

I don't listen to much, but I do like Helena and Venom by My Chemical Romance, and the song ohio is for lovers. Although I would like to check those bands you've mentioned, I definitely will once I'm in the mood.

the closest thing to that i listen to its indie rock by jaydes x wifiskeleton they made a few good tracks most of them being unreleased (officially) but theyre still on youtube

awesome!!!! Helena was my first MCR song, so beautiful and I cried when I went to their show a few years ago. I've seen Hawthorne heights too :)

Rock is such a good genre makes me feel good, and playing guitar is awesome and I recommend playing an instrument regardless of any status in life, for some reason music just cleans the soul. MCR is great, Thank You For the Venom is my fav song if you haven't heard it I also recommend Muse, specifically the Absolution album, it's heavy it's deep great lyrics and song writing all around. Weezer also hits the spot for emo, Pinkerton and all that.

What songs specifically? I really like Misery from jaydes, bipolar from wifiskeleton feels like it came straight from my brain to, they both really experimented with their sounds a lot all of their stuff is great, just wondering what a fellow fan of them likes, if that makes sense.

the ones im talking about arent released anywhere, and the quality is mediocre because all the uploads have been ripped off a call where they streamed some of the songs for wifiskeleton's memorial, these are two i like:

That was so cool, the second one especially was really good, I don't even know how people find those kinds of unreleased demos.

i personally know everything about wifiskeleton, i used to be on his server in the #greed era when he made music under the *67 alias, spoke to him a few times too hes a cool dude he even once ran a club penguin revival so he was a game developer too not just a musician

no i will tell you the full story

what he actually did is lead on several (OF AGE) women and then he realized its wrong so he posted an apology video to his channel saying what he did and how hes gonna disappear for a while to get help, he didnt mention anything about grooming, just tricking several women into thinking they have a future with him and giving them false hope, and then 2 girls started spreading false allegations about him grooming them (they did this for for attention and pity points im assuming), and it happened to be just about the time he posted the apology video which confused everyone and they all thought that video had to do with it and he was referencing those underage girls, so they all immediately believed the allegations because it looked like he admitted it himself, and this isnt surprising because most of the fanbase has been a bunch of braindead teenagers from the start so they're not capable of actually understanding things

the allegations have been debunked SEVERAL times and star/skel's story adds up very well compared to the story those girls gave us. even after his death, those false allegations against him still persist, new ones being spread around sometimes, which is disgusting

like shortly after his death, one of his exes heidisobased posted on her instagram story about how star been with her since she was udnerage and groomed her and said shes 17 and couldnt say anything about it because she was so attached to him but someone who had photos of her ID proved those allegations false and it was clear she was 18+

here is a video he made himself explaining the situation, i can personally vouch it is 100% true he is an innocent man


the only reason there are more people who believe hes a pred than there are who know the full sotry and know thats not the case is bc the internet decided to make the girls' story mainstream instead of his side

Hell yeah, I like most of the bands you've mentioned here but Glassjaw and On Broken Wings (surprising?) are my absolute favourites currently. I just got my CD copy of Material Control in the mail yesterday and last week I got Some Of Us May Never See The World, I'm so stoked to finally own them physically.

Apologies if the list is long lol. These are just the bands and songs that I can name off the top of my head. I'm in a never ending quest to discover and enjoy some of the hardest, heaviest, fastest, loudest, and most fun rock and metal. A lot of it involves harsh vocals, kick ass guitar melodies, and a lot of screaming. While some of the bands I've listed could be considered "mild" or "chill" by other bands/song's standards, this is, again, just the stuff I remembered on the fly. My Spotify is a beautiful amalgamation of rock and metal, from the faster and more upbeat side housing punk, to the sludgier and slower side housing genres such as sludge and death, and all of the fun inbetween. I fuck heavy with music

my top artist last year was my bloody valentine, i'm not even that much of a geek about shoegaze but their album loveless is such a beautiful devotion to mind-numbing riffs and the juxtaposition between chaos and beauty. it's the embodiment of limerence through sound. you've probably already heard it i'm sure, but just in case you haven't, it's really special.

as for emo, i really wanna dive more into the genre myself! so if anyone has reccs i'd appreciate it. i've been really into this screamo band 'the sea, the sea' . one of my fav tracks from them:

Dude, over the past year I've been really into MCR specifically their album "I brought you my bullets, you brought me your love" (god i love that album so much). But recently, La Dispute has been a personal favorite of mine oh the vocals are just so heavenly. So far I've listened to wildlife and Somewhere at the bottom of the river, 2 fantastic albums good god. I occasionally will turn on a few dance, Gavin dance songs but not too many

Have you heard them? They have a female lead singer who is tuff as hell. If you haven't heard them check them out on YouTube amyl and the sniffers live at the freak festival.
