Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

People around the world want euthanasia, but it's only available legally in a handful of countries. However there is a loophole that could make it available to people everywhere: maritime law and international waters.

What if someone created a cruise ship that was registered in a country with liberal euthanasia laws, and sailed it around the world anchoring in international waters near major port cities? The ship would be governed by the laws of its flag country where it was registered, so you could bring the euthanasia laws to the people instead of requiring them to travel to the country with the euthanasia laws.

Current countries with liberal euthanasia laws still are too rigid for this to work out well, but you might find a more underdeveloped regime that was willing to allow the cruise to function legally for a kickback. The flag country doesn't need to be nice, it just needs to have flexible euthanasia laws, or giant loopholes.

Once you got on the ship you could spend some time vacationing, then see a doctor and CTB with N. Or go straight to the CTB if you don't want to vacation.

There are a lot of challenges with this concept that make it infeasible, but the concept in theory could work if you had a single country in the world that was willing to enact the necessary laws, and a backer with enough money and clout to get it off the ground, someone like Philip Nitschke but 100x more powerful and wealthy.

really big fan of this idea. it'd be expensive, and whoever decides to (hypothetically) make this a reality would definitely deal with harassment/defamation campaigns... but it's nice to think about having one last vacation before ctb.

Sounds like a floating paradise. If you have to much fun you might change your mind about CTBing. But that is the big paradox I'm trapped in right now. I've got every thing I need for a peaceful CTB, and that makes me put CTB on hold for a while. But I know its just a while, soon things are going to go downhill fast, and I will need to act.

Elon Musk could probably make this happen. He's the richest man in the world so he could easily cover the costs, and he's well known for not giving a shit about what anybody thinks of him. He also leans libertarian, which means in theory he should support euthanasia broadly because a limited government wouldn't violate citizens' autonomy to make their own decisions about decide whether to live or die.

The problem with Musk is he says some pretty toxic things and he's erratic. Someone kind of like him would be a good fit, though.

Ingeneous thinking. Even if someone was willing to fund it, I wonder whether they would find maverick doctors, captain and crew to staff it though. I imagine they would also become the target of a lot of hate.

It's a lovely idea though really. Have a nice relaxing time before ending it. I'd like my ashes scattered at sea too. Convenient for that.

We'd have to start using the abreviation: CTS rather than CTB.

This sounds like a beautiful and peaceful ending. What a great way to spend your last days, and hours around people who all think the same and nobody would judge you or threaten to have you committed. I imagine everyone would spend those days the happiest they've been for a long time.

What a beautiful idea and fantasy! Hopefully, one day it can come true.

That's why I like to be on this website. There are sometimes interesting posts and ideas.
I also feel the freedom of thought and freedom of speech on here. That results into more unique point of view and opinion.

I could imagine that organization of that cruise ship would be managed and run from Switzerland. I think no country would implement a liberal right to die law that is as liberal as the one in Switzerland.
You don't need to do assisted suicide through doctors. But when one uses medication for this, then the right to die organization have the follow the rules of the medical association. And they are not really "happy" about this. So you have to go through their "procedure".
