Nowadays I feel like on the internet it's so normalized to say "I'm an introvert" or even in real life to say "I'm bad at socializing" but they're clearly not, majority of people who say they're introverted are just shy and that's okay! I love shy people it's okay to just be shy. As someone who is asocial, it frustrates me greatly though, everyone takes what they say as what it means to be introverted or not good at socializing so when they run into someone who's actually bad at it they treat them like less-than human. I am not any less-than yoy!

Yeah I literally just self isolate from my friends until I am just alone and raise my hopelessnesss for life even more. It pisses me off when I see youtubers with the entire world's eye on them say they are "introverts".... NO, you are NOT. You would not make a career out of social media of all things if you were. geez

Interesting topic! There's so many important distictions to make.

Additionally, shy people, quiet people, and loners are often seen as something that needs to be fixed. I'm one of those. But I'm owning it now and I feel so much more comfortable. It's even more difficult as a woman. Women are constantly expected to smile and be social. I stopped smiling (unless I'm genuinely happy or laughing, of course). It's made such a difference. I get more quality conversations instead of quantity.

I'm a pretty introverted person yet I am also shy, ideally I am happy just being alone or with a quality person in a more secluded environment rather than out and about or such, meeting new people is both nerve wrecking and embarrassing
I used to go to classes to "learn to be more social" since it was apparently smt that had to be fixed, I learned to put on a fake smile and act extroverted, even though at the end of the day it was way too exhausting
Having many friends also seems tedious to maintain and tiring to be around, I've always only had at most one or two friends around me, anything more makes me feel strangely trapped and uncertain

I'm definitely mostly shy. But I think because being social is so stressful for me, I will reach a point where I call out to work and stop talking to anyone for a week.

Also, I am better online than in face to face interactions.

Dating sites are packed with the "tee hee, I'm an introverted extrovert" Now they're calling themselves Omniverts. :hmph: Most of the time, the profiles go on to say "I like to go out, and I also like to stay home." Just stop, you just described being socially well rounded and added personality buzzwords to make you look kookie.

It's like people that call themselves OCD because they like their Minecraft builds a certain way or just want their pans in the pan cabinet.

I've only seen self proclaimed Omni used on those hellish sites. I just had to google ambivert and yeah you're right, I'm pretty sure they know too.

I'm absolutely an introvert in the conventional sense, though my behavior is also tinged with depression related self-isolating tendencies.I am not shy and have not experienced social anxiety in decades.

So many introverts would have been extroverts if it were not for the environment they grew up in.

it's difficult, in situations where i don't know anyone, i try to be extroverted maybe just to introduce myself to others, i also like being the person to introduce two people to eachother

but when it comes to long term friends, i almost avoid interactions like the plague. maybe it's an ego thing? i just can't muster up conversation. been depressed for so long i really don't have anything to talk about, compared to how much life they are all living

so for me and i think lots others, it fluctuates
