Fair ban? Re: @motel rooms

Just leaving this here for proof about how someone (motel rooms/thehotelbeneathground) hijacked the The New York times megathread to talk shit about me and my friend behind our backs. Also, note the name calling, playing armchair psychiatrist and outright lying and spreading conspiracies.

If you want to know more, I blocked them in summer 21, met Thehatedone months later, Thehatedone spoke of them, so I actually ironically unblocked them because of Thehatedone (Thehatedone didn't ask me to unblock, I was just curious to see the posts).

And in winter 21/22 (half a year after I had initially blocked them), they suddenly noticed I had them blocked, and instead of just accepting it like everyone else of the 20something people I have blocked have done, they hijacked a random thread and started claiming behind my and Thehatedone's backs that I had been brainwashed by Thehatedone to block them, even though I had blocked them a long time before ever meeting Thehatedone.

I have literally confessed to blocking lots of people for all kinds of reasons (someone disliked dogs, one time I had a bad day, etc.), yet none of them have half a year later come and started spreading conspiracy theories and lies on a random thread that I was brainwashed into blocking them. The idea that maybe I had blocked them half a year earlier and not recently didn't even cross their mind.

No one can see, no one fucking cares. They think "Oh, it's Manaaja!" not "Oh, it's the person who has those genitals, and is of that height and has that kind of hair!". Most people here don't even remember my gender, pronouns, whether I'm cis or trans, or my sexuality. There's literally only one person who has ever even asked my pronouns, and that was Thehatedone.

Which I think is the signal for me to leave this topic, doesn't seem like it's going anywhere and not why I joined this site certainly. I can understand why he was banned from Mod's point of view at the very least even if I don't particularly agree with it with what's shown so far. I'm not sure where all these jokes are coming from, motel mentions himself how much his behaviour affected TheHatedOne, and after dealing with motel I can understand what TheHatedOne meant. It's really sad they had to go through it and weren't believed at the time.

It's really difficult to explain the emotional reach of someone like motel, it's a very volatile explosive attack and he would hold onto grudges, post hate in some random threads without even mentioning your ID (like in this ss, where I did not know whom this was directed at before it was explained to me). He would also portray himself as the victim and people would fall for it.

It's incredibly stressful to deal with that and since he posted on nearly every single thread, there was no escaping this person. I couldn't fully block him, so I had to leave and when I returned I saw him doing the same to FuneralCry. I was about to go ballistic, but saw that the admin finally dealt with the situation (still can't believe it) - it was left for so long, motel was having fun openly harassing and mocking people at this point, and FuneralCry out of all users, whom I've never seen be confrontational or abrasive.

The thread where I called him out was his 'I might leave' thread where everyone was praising him and only then I accidentally saw that comment on another thread and was shocked.

So, @motel rooms was recently banned. Not bringing this up as a popularity issue. Most of us here are probably not too likeable, let's be honest. That's not the point. Arbitrary use of banning authority, if that's what happened, may be another issue.

Does anyone see anything in his last 10 posts that is ban-worthy? I personally don't think so. What do you think?

My personal thoughts are that he should not have been banned. I'm kinda biased though because I liked talking with him.
I don't know what all he did to get banned. I think many of us have said things we shouldn't have.
Sometimes we might say something that is triggering to others without realizing it.
If I have offended someone, I will apologise. I try to keep in mind that most of us aren't and probably never will be our best selves.
I don't think it's bad to have discussions on topics we disagree on. As long as it's done with civility.
Name calling is unacceptable.
I don't think it's acceptable to joke about something personal someone shares in their own thread.
I hope I haven't done this but I'm not totally sure.

This reinforces the suspicion that someone simply did not like the position he was taking in response to a series of questionable threads, and his past bad behavior was presented as an ex post justification for the ban.

On another note, can OPs not lock their own threads? This one has gone off the rails many comments ago.

Yeah, going in to people's dms to do some unwanted and antagonistic "right listen here, I'm having the last word" shit is the mark of a dickhead, as is belittling and diminishing the experience of those on the end of clearly evidenced harassment. It's very telling that you were thin-skinned enough during a discussion on male celibacy to wade in to the dms with a wall of angry text yet seem to think those on the receiving end of actual harassment, personal abuse and pschhopathologising are making a fuss over nothing and perhaps need to toughen up a bit.
