I went to MEPS and was so excited that I finally got a chance to join the Marines but thennnnn I got a 24/31 (31 is passing). Thanks to my terribly low IQ it would take me 10,000 years to solve something like 25x = y - 69 ÷ 999 - 1 = x which I don't understand how PEOPLE FIND THAT SO EASY?!?!!!

It looks like my low IQ is going to screw me over in life.

You were so close, though.

Did you get an ASVAB study book before hand? Try that.

Dude I'm scholastically dumb as hell and I got a decent enough score on mine to be able to get into military intelligence.

And I remember sitting there basically guessing half the math questions (I literally don't know my multiplication tables even now).

You can do it. Just study and take a practice test before you go again.

I agree. There's a ton of good study books and practice tests. The ASVAB is not your traditional test, so it throws a lot of people off. Failing it doesn't mean your unintelligent. Ask your recruiter when you can retake it and ask them for advice on what they recommend for study materials.

I will try to study much harder (skipping gym and MMA) and mainly focus on studying. The math screws me over HARD

I tried to join when I was a teen multiple times and they rejected me over and over for having IEP but now this recruiter is giving me a chance to join

There are waivers. The jar heads don't usually mind waiving low scores. The issue right now though is unfortunately (for you) they have already met there quota so they can be pickier. Keep trying. If they see you're devoted and not just somone who likes the uniform that will go a long way.

I totally agree. OP, if you can graduate high school (which you apparently did) then you can pass the asvab. Keep studying, you've got this 😊😊😊

Is there anyway you can get an algebra tutor briefly to help you? You're bot the only person who has trouble with math I promise. Maybe something like mathnasium can help you

dw your IQ has nothing to do with math. If i remember right i was once tested as a kid and yet here i am. Still dumb as bread. I cannot do math for the life of me without a calculator. Forget asking me about all the formulas, i do not know, get away from me. the only math thing i can do is solve for x, those are neat and fun. I could do those for fun but only with a calculator.

You got this! You can try again!

That score might be enough to enlist in the Army! Never give up! I would ask can you study and retake. If you can retake, grab an ASVAB study guide, the library usually have them. Don't feel too bad, that test is very difficult and I suggest everyone study prior. Keep us posted please. I've been there and definitely understand. I failed my hearing test at MEPS and cried. The lady noticed and told me to calm down and we can try again. I passed it the 2nd job. So it happens, just retake. You're score wasn't bad overall. Best wishes to you♥️

derailing this thread to ask u military peeps on here a question: if any of you joined with a mental health history how well did they take that/what'd you have to do to get around that?

Honestly it all depends on the timing, at least from what I've seen. If they are struggling to meet quotas, then they'll generally be more likely to accommodate stuff like mental health histories. Your best bet is just to meet with a recruiter and be honest with them.
