Are you for real? So a successful suicide will have a positive effect on the public perception of suicide ? Have some empathy, dude.
People view an 18 year old overdosing on Tylenol, and a 40 year old shooting themself in the head very differently. Partly due to age, but mainly because one seems impulsive and poorly thought out (ie not mentally sound) while they know the other must have thought it out over a period of time (ie events causing their action).
One perception leads to intervening "for their own good", the other (ideally) leads to questioning how to prevent said events from occuring again, and/or aknowledging their rationality for desiring to ctb.
The instances of suicides due to mass shootings or bullying, receive the same perception as the 40 year old would. Which I think supports my claim that suicidal gestures negatively impacts public perception of suicidal people*.
Positive meaning more willing to accept suicide as a choice, while attempting to prevent the desire from occuring. Negative meaning retaining past and current barbaric ineffective practices.
I never criticised his desire or reason to ctb, just his method of doing so. I don't understand how that makes me an unempathetic asshole.
I tried to suicide using the Antidepressant pills and it was the worst experience I've ever had on my life...
[Father] he never said a bad word to me but that makes suicide a little bit harder for me . He makes me think and that's awful. I didn't listen to the people here before taking the pills and I was dumb and young very young ..
