I have always struggled with the fact that I love very deeply, very emotionally.

My partner has autism, like me, but presents it in a very different way as ASD is a spectrum and it also makes them love differently than me.

Sometimes I can't help but selfishly sulk over the fact I wish I could just be loved in the way I love another

And I can't help but wonder why I am always so busy with the fantasy of mutual obsession, even though I know very well that is not a healthy way to maintain a romantic relationship.

Ever since my childhood pet passed away of recent I have just been feeling more empty and struggling harder because it feels like the love and time I put into taking care of my dog now has absolutely nowhere to go at all.

Does anyone here also experience the feeling of love that might not be able to be reciprocated?
What does it do to you, and how do you try coping with it? I would always love to read other people's insight/perspective.

I totally get that so manys. It seems like I tend to feel things more deeply than a lot of other people, not like I think I'm better, I just am tuned much more strongly to the way I feel and most people tell me they don'y really feel that way ^^"

In my past relationship I was extremely committed to loving and caring for my SO but it became really apparent early on that they didn't really reciprocate to the same level. I think I fell into the idea that if I just show them more love they would eventually love me just as much because to me being loved deeply and unconditionally is something that feels supr meaningful and something you commit to and stuffs. But eventually she ended things with me and I learned that you can't love someone into loving you, and in my case that's what I was essentially doing, trying to earn their love when in reality I ended up being a passing feeling for them ^^"

I think there's nothing wrong about how you feel, it's more like an intensity dial and for some the dial is just a lot higher in effect than others. No wrong or right, just a different kind of need. I say this not knowing exactly your details but if they're anything like mine then maybe that applies too!

I guess the biggest thing is that I totally feel that and think it's a lot to figure out def

I don't think I fully understand what you mean but sometimes I do have color associations to people or things that involve emotions but maybe not like you're expressing them. So basically, not entirely sure sorry :3

Hey there. I feel the same way. It's the main reason I just choose to be single and don't really try to find partners anymore. It's just easier. I love and feel on a level that is just profound. Maybe it's the psychedelics. All I know is I've never been loved the way I love something. My dog might be the one exception to that.
