  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

I know it's not recommended to lay down when using the exit bag method (although i'm not 100% sure why?)

I have an office chair in my room, but I feel like i'd easily just slip off of it once I lose consciousness... so i'm thinking of just thinking of sitting upright on my bed, with my back resting against the wall... is that an okay position, or are you supposed to be laying back a little? I'm a little confused.

Thanks in advance

I did that position too. It would have worked fine, I'm sure. It's just a shame the gas made me feel like I was suffocating for some reason. But I think sitting up in bed is great. Lying down probably isn't a problem either. Sitting in an office chair would be a mistake, because once you pass out and flop over, you don't want to accidentally rip the bag or tear out the hose or you'll obviously fail, because it still takes some time to die after you pass out and you need the whole setup to stay intact.

Saying that, I hope you change your mind about CTB, or at least give it very serious thought. Things often get better for many, bmany people. Not everyone though, and sometimes the suffering just gets too much to tolerate any longer. I understand that ❤️

That's what I was thinking.. but in all the guides I've read, they say to be reclined in a chair!? That seems like the worst position because you're likely to slump to the side or fall off the chair entirely.

Im having a final meeting with my ex on Friday.. we're going to have a long serious discussion... the result of that talk is what's going to push me over the edge (either way). Some stuff has happened and it's basically destroyed me inside.

Absolutely agreed. I think a common-sense approach is best here. Occasionally people propagate heresy, mistakes or just nonsense. I 100% would not do it sitting up in an office chair or anything without significant support and stability for when you pass out. I don't know why they say you shouldn't do it lying down though. Maybe it's just a minor reason that can be overlooked, it's up to you to make that judgement. But I felt more comfortable sitting up a bit in bed with pillows supporting me so that's what I did each time. No-one's said that that was my problem yet

That's the recommendation on the PPeH, I think is due to CO₂ purging being less efficient and to avoid sleep apnea.
