It definitely isn't. That's why the rest of my time is spent preparing for the day of my death. That saying is really just guilt-tripping people into staying alive. It is an attack on the persons self-esteem. Life is hard, but so is suicide. One guarantees freedom, the other expects us to be happy with all the ups and downs, promising everything, rarely delivering, and always having the potential for more pain and suffering.

I mean, I sort of agree in the opposite intended way.
Yes, I want to ctb because living is a burden I don't want to carry for much longer. Because living a normal and productive life is a difficulty I am not braced to face.

That doesn't mean that the act of actually ctb is easy at all... the only reason I am here today is because it's easier to keep staying alive.

But staying alive isn't the same as living. Staying alive is easy, living is exceedingly difficult.

Whomever says this has never been suicidal or had to look for a method.
It's hard enough to find a peaceful method in most countrys and in the end u can never be sure how the last moments will be.
Then there is this fucked up thing called SI. It can kick in so hard even tho u have been suicidal for years and start an attempt that fails it means 5 minutes after you'r unable to take your own life.
It's freaking hard to take your own life.

Humans are hard-wired to follow the path of least resistance. If the statement above holds true, many of us would've chosen death over life. I mean, we wouldn't even be here to argue about whether living or dying is harder.

No one calls suicide "the easy way out" unless they are referring to a killer/rapist killing himself instead of facing a criminal conviction and life in prison.

The difficulty of life varies immensely between different people. Some people will tell you they find life very easy and others will say it's impossibily difficult, and everything in-between. Difficulty is also a subjective quality and can only really be determined by the liver of that life, but of course everyone around them will have their opinions. Suicide also can be easy or hard depending on the individual and their perception of it.

For me, suicide is absolutely not easy, and neither is life. I think that suicide can be made easier by using certain methods (N, noble gases) but even with the best setup I wouldn't call it an easy thing to do.

I think that suicide is easier for me than continuing to live would be, but I don't believe opting for the 'easier' option is any sign of cowardice, instead I think it's just reasonable.

I don't think these people are talking about the nuts and bolts of finding a method and following through. They clearly mean it's harder to live out 7 or 8 decades of bullshit as opposed to doing a one-time very difficult thing. And as such, I agree. Ctb has got to be easier than this life in its entirety. But I do disagree with it being cowardly etc. It's just a choice. If life is a gift, some people will choose to return it.

Suicide is not easy as we are programmed to survive. Methods can also fail. If it was easier to exit this world, I would have been gone a long time ago. Also society does everything to prolong life and takes away peaceful methods. We deserve a right to die. Life is very hard and it is unnecessary, we were all fine not existing before we were forced to live. For me the only true peace is in non existence.

It's impossible to CTB for me. To fuck up your own body is so damn hard to do. I am so scared of failing too. Now on the other hand if there were just a curtain that you could walk in and be done with life well I would have walked into that curtain 2 years ago.

I know. I have a worsening physical condition. What I mean is that existing is easy. Breathing, eating and sleeping doesn't require much work (obviously, not for everyone). But I can't do much besides meeting my basic needs, aka 'living good'

Correction: living is hard. Dying is hard. Both paths require constant forward planning in order to work. Even when the best decisions are made there is still a chance of failure which can result in a person being crippled - either physically or figuratively. A poor choice in suicide can result in you living; a poor choice in living can make you wish you were dead.
