Hello, recovering peeps,
I'd like to know if any of you have any long term experience with eszopiclone as a sleeping medication.
I started self-medicating with zopiclone around March/February and discontinued after a month or so because everywhere I read said it would stop being effective and generate dependency. I tapered off and moved on to eszopiclone because I read it was just as effective and much better in the long run, I've been taking it for close to two/three months now and I've felt no side-effects. Going to a doctor isn't an option because they'd medicate me with antidepressants and I don't want antidepressants, I just want to shut down my brain when I need to and I found that in eszopiclone. I know self-medicating isn't ideal, but I'm not taking any high doses and I'm taking it regularly.
Eszopiclone has helped me sleep when I need to and I have a good sleeping schedule now, but I've become reliant on it in the sense it's become my "brain shut down button" so I don't get anxious at night and do something stupid (not stupid like killing myself, that would be great, stupid like texting my ex or checking her socials). So, I wonder, can I keep this up and, if so, for how long? Has anyone had any troubles with eszopiclone after taking it for, say, a year?
