I had my bone marrow biopsy at a big hospital in the metropolitan area in which I live.
Everything went fine. When I was under anesthesia I kept trying to roll onto my stomach. They asked me if I'm a stomach sleeper when I woke up and I said yeah why? Lol, they said they had to up my propofol infusion substantially to keep me put deep enough under. Fun experience in all.

But while I was there, I asked what type of procedures they performed in this Day Surgery Unit. They said they do bone marrow biopsies i the morning and electroshock therapy in the evenings.

I was stunned. I had no idea they still did this. The nurse explained, they use it to force you into a seizure in the ultimate hopes of you're brain resetting itself and healing your depression. I'm like, sign me up!

Has anyone tried this? You can apparently get approved for a slew of different conditions like personality disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar, and run of the mill severe depression. If you've tried a bunch of different medications and they arent quite cutting it, they can prescribe electroshock therapy. Unlike in the old days, this is voluntary and not forced upon uncooperative patients.

What do you think?

I did electroconvulsive therapy. I had 12 sessions done over the course of 4 weeks.
My mood did improve a bit while I was in ect, but I was in a psych ward at the time where I got along well with other patients and made some good friends, so it's hard to say if I felt more stable because of ect, or because of an improved situation.
A few weeks after I left the psych ward, any improvement of my mood was completely gone.
It's also recommended to have a few ect sessions after the 4 initial weeks, just to 'refresh' its effect, which granted I didn't do.

Aside of mild muscle pains that I had during therapy, I didn't have any side effects though, so in the end I neither gained nor lost anything from it, but I guess it was worth a try.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Very interesting to learn about it.

I have not experienced it but have had plenty of clients who have. For some it seemed like a miracle cure. Witnessing it for myself, how they first came in, to what they were like at the end was like night and day. For others it damaged their memory and left them upset at that loss. Sadly like all medicine it is a gamble that only you can decide if you want to roll the dice on.
