  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Not sure what to call it exactly, I'm losing my grip on words.
But has anyone tried removing electronics from their lives and just returning to books and mainly analog things? I use the term electronics loosely I mainly mean stuff that connect to the internet which is everything now including television. I don't do social media or anything though I see its effects since everything else is shaped around it. Everything is always in a constant panic whether its AI, climate, Putin, gender stuff, and so much of it rubs off on me. If so what was the outcome did it help at all?

it would probably help. the internet is a mixture of everyone and everything being influenced by everything else. to get away from that would give you time to yourself, youd be able to find yourself without anyone else making you question things. you can sit there with yourself and just go "yeah i like this, this is me"

completely personal opinion however its still accurate just might not apply to you, i however NEED this.

It would do us all a lot if good to step back from our electronic distractions. Life happens face to face or at least out of our safe zones.
Since that is not practical, taking a short vacation might be the answer. Get back into your own head.
If that is not going well and you need to chat, vent or ask a question, we are here all the time.

I'll be frank, I'm living more here, inside the internet, than outside. Everything I want to do is much easier done on eletronics (even reading). I also do feel like overwhelmed with the insane amout of informations by which I'm bombarded every second when using the internet, but I try to be selective.

Other than that, I would genuinely like to live a life away from all types of eletronics, I don't know, maybe that would help me clear my mind a bit.

Set a day aside for this. Maybe 8 am to 5 pm. A small amount of time to go for a walk, sit in a park or just go to a store. It lets you refocus for a while.
We will never again be free of these devices, but we can structure the time they invade our space.

I do read on occasion but I need my internet, games, movies and stuff. It's more to do with loneliness and boredom than anything else. Saying that maybe I should abstain from tech, because I would end it all the sooner. I can't live without music either.

I mean these can exist without internet to some extent, sort of.
I love my PS3 and platform games. It plays all my childhood games too. I don't see that as a real electronic in the modern sense of the term. I may actually kill myself when that finally stops working.

I would never suggest putting them down forever. Our world has progressed far enough that is not realistic. Just take a few hours off snd see how it goes.

I need to try that. Thanks for the advice.

I think it really depends on the person and what they use it for? Personally I probably should use them less, but the vast majority of my positive interactions come from friends who I cannot communicate with outside of the internet or my phone right now. I've never tried cutting them out completely, but there are situations where I don't use them (like getting to see people in person, sports, when I have other things to actively do) and it's not overly hard for me to do so.

Yeah, I hear you. I am old enough to grow up in a time before the internet. We still had games and movies to keep ourselves busy. I was an avid reader growing up as well and I loved watching Nickelodeon lol
I am of the mindset that we are all trying to escape from this reality. Entertainment and knowledge is a good enough distraction, for now at least. I'm getting bored with everything though. I guess that is part of getting old and burnt out. Ah the joys of living lol

It's a very good idea.

Total disconnection may have practical implications (personally I use it for almost everything - communication with colleagues, shopping, banking, etc.) but it is a major mental health drain and must be controlled.
