I mean, I can get pretty bummed out if I hear people chewing extra loud but mostly if I'm already annoyed/they're a person that annoys me.

I don't know why this is written in suicide discussion though.... lmao

Yess I hate it!! I hate a lot of noises honestly, even when it's not food related. My dad is also a loud eater. He's from China and he's kind of the stereotypical Chinese person that does actually slurp and eat loudly. It's really annoying and drives me crazy. I don't see him much I have to try really really hard not to start fucking screaming. I swear I love my dad but I fucking hate when he eats :pfff: ;-;

Reminded me of Schop on noise.
" Noise is the most impertinent of all forms of interruption. It is not only an interruption, but also a disruption of thought. Of course, where there is nothing to interrupt, noise will not be so particularly painful. Occasionally it happens that some slight but constant noise continues to bother and distract me for a time before I become distinctly conscious of it. All I feel is a steady increase in the labor of thinking—just as though I were trying to walk with a weight on my foot. At last I find out what it is. Let me now, however, pass from genus to species. The most inexcusable and disgraceful of all noises is the cracking of whips—a truly infernal thing when it is done in the narrow resounding streets of a town. I denounce it as making a peaceful life impossible; it puts an end to all quiet thought. That this cracking of whips should be allowed at all seems to me to show in the clearest way how senseless and thoughtless is the nature of mankind. No one with anything like an idea in his head can avoid a feeling of actual pain at this sudden, sharp crack, which paralyzes the brain, rends the thread of reflection, and murders thought. Every time this noise is made, it must disturb a hundred people who are applying their minds to business of some sort, no matter how trivial it may be; while on the thinker its effect is woeful and disastrous, cutting his thoughts asunder, much as the executioner's axe severs the head from the body. "

Oh yes. My partner's awful children would eat with their mouth open. It was disgusting! And they had the nerve to look down at me. People talking with food in their mouth and putting their elbows on the table are other pet peeves.

Yes, loud eating really grosses me out. I don't know why people can't hear it when they eat like that, or do they just not care...

Yes I really can't stand noisy eaters, someone that really annoys me has a habit of just trying to get the food into her mouth as quickly as possible even if it's basically too hot to eat, So it's accompanied by a blowing noise as it's hoovered into her mouth, then proceeds to chew with her mouth open - disgusting to have to sit at the same table as.

I used to get panic attacks in cafeterias because of this. It doesn't happen to that extent as much anymore, but it definitely affects me a lot. You should look up misophonia. It helped me feel a bit calmer knowing I'm not alone and having a word for what I was feeling.

Yes, along with burps. But if I'm eating something at the same time, I don't notice it.

Yeah, it's called misophonia. My dad made family dinnertime a nightmare growing up. I asked him to please eat quieter almost every night when I was 12-13 years old and eventually I just had to give up because it never worked. It made me skip meals whenever possible in my teens. My cat didn't even eat as loudly as my dad. I've even gone on dates where the guy chews too loud and I always try to find a way out of there asap.

other noises that bother me are loud breathing and the sound when people scratch certain rough fabrics. gives me chills and heart palpitations and nausea

I have That One Guy at the office who chews with his mouth open and smacks his lips really loudly. I actually told him off one time, he was embarrassed and apologised, but next time he was doing it again. Looks like if you're not taught table manners at the proper age it's really hard to relearn.
