Hello. This is a friend of JB (dumpstermagic)
Jay passed away sometime around the end of November. I was named in his will to receive pieces of his property including his laptop that i am posting on now. I'm writing a few posts on his various social medias to let his online friends know what happened.
He was found in his van deceased, cause of death was ruled as complications from heart disease, sleep apnea and alcohol abuse. He died in his sleep.
I knew Jay as a street musician, I met him at a bar a couple years back. We kept in touch and he ended up staying at my apartment frequently since October. He loved life, and encouraged everyone to get out of their comfort zone. I knew him as indomitable, constantly searching for the peak of his own experience. We climbed 3 mountains together, and had lots of good nights shared around a campfire. His dog and most of his personal affects have gone to his family. He was an only child, survived by both his adopted parents who are 70 years old. Out of respect for them I will not be linking the obituary. I hope whoever he was close to here understands. Jay was a really good dude, and inspired me to live my life a lot more recklessly and to have fun instead of be afraid. He lived and died how he wanted to, and that is something i will never forget. He will inspire me until the end of my life.
My heart goes out to all his online friends and people he touched. Please take a moment tonight to remember we all live and die in this world, and it's how we interact with each other that makes a difference. Thank you for reading this, and from Jay and myself, good bye.
I'll stay online for a little bit to reply to any questions anyone might have here and on a couple other sites.

What a wonderful "eulogy" for your friend. to live a life without fear must have been wonderful for him and to pass that on to others is a true gift. Thank you for taking the time to share what this brave man's life was like. You were gifted with a true friend. Again thank you. I believe he is in a better place wherever that may be. Peace

Thank you, it comes a shock and at the same time it doesn't, you know? I know he wanted it like this. It helps me not be sad.

^ Nice to put a face to the name. It's funny, our first encounter in chat was, how shall we say, prickly - he accused me of having crappy taste in hip hop when someone and I (Donk I think) were posting a bunch of classic hip hop vids on a nostalgia kick one night lol - and he ended up becoming one of my favorite chat fixtures. He even posted a little song about me on vocaroo recently which I still have. Dumpster, or Jay as it were, was definitely a real one - that dude you feel like you've known forever - and there should be way more of him walking around. RIP

I didn't know your friend. I see his last post on this site was the famous quote:
"laugh and the world laughs with you,
cry, and you cry alone".
A sentiment many of us can relate to.

He seemed like a cool guy.
Thanks for the eulogy.

hey everyone, this is trashton. My name's ashton i was Jays friend who logged on here the other night. His mom and dad are staying with me for a couple days collecting his things and anything you had/have to say to them i will pass it on.
A few updates, i guess some months ago Jay was diagnosed with congenital heart failure. There wasn't any operations that could be done that would help long term so he declined treatment.
he overdosed on opiates twice and ended up in the local hospital. i never knew that. it seems that he was dedicated to going out on his own terms. i, and im sure many of you, can respect that. his parents wished he would have come home but i know they don't understand his frame of mind from the conversations we've had.
They are leaving me with his van and his dog Panda. they say they dont have the space for either of them as their dog is an aggressive pit mix and doesnt get along with Panda.
I've read some more of his posts here as well as from other websites and also music that he was working on and i know he valued you guys a lot. he was dedicated to spreading the message that we are all in this together. i plan to finish some of his unfinished music and keep his memory alive in some of these places that he clearly loved before the end.
thank you all again for being here for him and fighting/commiserating/loving right along side him. any questions you might have go ahead and send them over and i'll be happy to help any way i can.
much love, trashdinner (trashton) ((ashton))

omg that sound so right. lemme guess he posted mad conductor, dead prez, and immortal technique at you?

oh man he was. he would give you the shirt off his back. despite not having shit. there were so many nights we'd go hit the town just playing music for cash and we'd split it and he'd end up giving his whole half away and i'd buy the drinks lol!!
The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long

RIP.

His take on Country Roads here is really good. Talented guy.
i'm going to finish some of his projects and i'll post em on here. keep an eye out. if i can, i'll link them on this thread.

im glad he reached out to all of you
