Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

Yeah.. I also think it's a bit odd that such a new account has made so many posts about helping others find DSL after finding it only a few days ago. This is not their first post offering hints/help, and it's just rubbing me the wrong way. I'm of the opinion that finding the source is something you should work for, as it helps prevent those who are in a temporary crisis (mostly children) from making a permanent decision. Like if you're adamant about helping people find the source for some weird reason, at least keep it to the private discussion..
Every hint I ever got for DSL was from the posts on SS. I'm more than happy to help with hints privately.
I agree. There was another account about a month ago that did the same thing. They basically blasted the source. People posting hints and private messaging people need to be very careful. You don't know who is behind that screen and it's very irresponsible to help someone with something like this

Exactly, you don't know who's behind the screen. It's not just about protecting DSL as a source, that's not the only reason people are up in arms about this behavior. It's about protecting people too. I honestly think mods need to do a good comb through of all the DSL threads and delete some of the more recent hints, I feel like it's getting a bit out of hand and too obvious.I agree. Which, from what i've seen so far, has been *the* #1 hint that gets people on the right path.
I did report the thread but nothing was done. When I was looking for DSL at the beginning of the year there wasn't many hints and it took me a while to find it. Now there's tons of hints and they're really specific. It's very alarming because it shouldn't be an easy thing to find. Op definitely doesn't care. The response was so immature.
I am officially no longer posting anything on DSL. I am not removing my posts, but I will no longer be posting ANYTHING regarding DSL. If my posts are taken down by SS then so be it. Thank you for showing me this concern and having me follow this better path. Sorry for going crazy with this. I'm also not going to give anymore hints or clues through pm.
I absolutely get the secrecy. It's certainly an important source that needs to be protected at all cost.
Even just last month there wasn't the amount of obvious hints that there is today. Since mid March things have really shifted, and some of the clues are flat out telling you what certain letters stand for. They're not so much clues, rather thinly veiled answers. And yes, it's become apparent based off their response and new DSL threads they don't care which is unfortunate.
I posted that I wont be posting on DSL anymore. There might be a couple you haven't found yet. As of 4:06 pm PST of today, no more posts.
Like someone else said it's not just about protecting the source. It's about not making it easier for people to harm themselves. I've had quite a few people message me asking for sources and I always politely turn them away because I have a conscienceI absolutely get the secrecy. It's certainly an important source that needs to be protected at all cost.
But as a new member, i can tell you: Even with everything in this thread... i'm not a step closer to what it could mean
And maybe that's better this way. But yeah, maybe hints feel more obvious once you're already in the know?
