I've read some articles along with anecdotes that drug use increases suicide during withdrawal. It seems that many celebrities who killed themselves like Anthony Bourdain used drugs a lot in the past. It seems that drugs reduce/completely remove the survival instinct.

Has anyone though about this?

I wonder if they were trying to escape something with drug use anyway? I imagine it's more common during withdrawal due to the sudden chemical unbalance your body faces and that crash back down to reality. I've never used hard drugs so can't really shed much light, just guessing really.

I had recently stopped stimulants again and have had really serious suicide ideation. I don't know if they take away survival instinct. I didn't feel like it did. It's just despair is amplified during withdrawal and agitation.
