Ok so my methods of choice have always been jumping off Beachy Head, or crashing my car at speed into a bridge or whatever. I've heard a rumour of people driving their car off Beachy Head and being successful. Anyone know anything of this? And where from? I've scoped out the area by the red and white light house. And couldn't see where you could drive near the edge. I just feel driving off might conquer the SI.

I'm no physicist so take this with a grain of salt. I suspect that using a car actually might increase the risk of surviving with severe injuries. Cars are designed to absorb most of the energy and deform on impact.

do it in an early model Volkswagen: no seatbelt, no airbags, metal steering wheel?

Perhaps most importantly, there's no engine in the front, only a trunk.

Get creative. Look back at stupid stuff you've done, if you've a mental illness that isn't "the common cold," unipolar depression. I remember so much insanely stupid shit I've done, and survived. The gods were protecting me, as though to taunt me from my memories.

An unsafe antique car is like a blessing relative to any number of stunts I've thoughtlessly pulled, and to be honest, will probably again. I was a machine gunner in Southwest Asia, and made close friends with a Marine M60 gunner from Khe Sanh at an inpatient PTSD program. He highlighted, "ctbuniquectb, you are living the same way today that I did through the 1970s. Our 20s were more dangerous than The War ever possibly could have been."

Edit to add, holy shit, pic related triggered me WAY WAY worse than anything from Zero Dark Thirty (which is just how you describe PT hours)

Sounds crazy doesn't it, but I'm not sure you're creating enough force to make it a sure deal.

Not wearing a seat belt also increases the risk of being thrown clear and surviving.

This is a recipe for disaster. I'm an engineer and as some people have mentioned here the car and it's suspension mechanism could potentially absorb huge amount of impact depending how it lands. This could end up in 100 different scenarios, an unproven risky method. Big fat NO

I get it. It just seemed a nice way to go. But yes. Back to jumping

I know it's said all the time here.. but isn't it funny how hard it seems to be to die when you want?

Yet freak horrible accidents happen all the time. Life is whack.

Also Please don't do anything wreckless! I don't want you to be hurt and in an even worse situation than what led you here now  Good luck

You're an angel. Thank you. I feel more wreckless lately and self destructive for some reason. But thank you xxxx

I remember reading an interview with one of the god botherers who patrol the place. He saw someone parked up and when he approached, the guy just floored it over the cliff.

What a hero.

I think they are looking to charging people to go to Beachy Head :(

Then Birling Gap or Seaford Head will be the choice of venue for suicide. Well plenty of suicides have happened there already, but Beachy Head is the most well known. Third most popular suicide spot worldwide. The White Cliffs of Dover are pretty high too, so that is another option.

Brave soul. I am sure those Chaplaincy people probably push more people over the edge than save them. I would not want one of them yakking by my side when I am trying to get my head in order about going over. I would be inclined to take them with me, that would shut them up!

I was the original OP of this thread under a different name. Literally was at Beachy Head last week and saw the chaplains driving round. But also saw spots where I could drive up onto the area by the cliff quite easily. I actually don't feel too worried about them patrolling round. What can they do really?

They all have walkie-talkies and can phone the Police if needed. At the bottom of Belle Toute Lighthouse is an area where people park their cars and I think you can just about drive up onto the grass from there. I would not be surprised if the Council has put in bollards or some other "life-saving" measures by now.

I think car would not be more effective way than jumping in this case. Cars are made to absorb hits, our head is not meant to absorb hits.
