Suicide dolphin Mosa

Dolphin Mosa has died at the Fakieh Aquarium in Jeddah. This is reported by the Animal Rights Foundation. According to the Fakieh Aquarium in Jeddah, "the transition from adolescence to sexual maturity" was the reason the animal no longer wanted to live.

Mosa is one of five dolphins that were transferred from the Curaçao Sea Aquarium to Saudi Arabia in June. Animal Rights campaign coordinator Anna Krijger says she is shocked, but not surprised: "Keeping such large and intelligent animals in small basins is a horrific form of abuse. It is more common for dolphins to self-mutilate or take their own life under these conditions."

Mosa is seven years old. Bottlenose dolphins can live up to 20 years in the wild. According to Animals Rights, the animals had a relatively natural life in the Seaquarium, but the conditions in the Fakieh Aquarium are said to be downright bad.

i thought the thing that made humans different from animals is that the humans are smart enough and self aware enough to make the decision to end their own life but i guess i am wrong

(Dutch article)
Curaçao mourns the death of dolphin Mosa (7). The bottlenose dolphin is one of five dolphins that were transferred from Curaçao to Saudi Arabia in June after much commotion. There, in the Fakieh Aquarium in Jeddah, she swam at high speed against the edge of the basin.

This is really sad… Almost nothing makes me sad at this point but this does make me sad… This year I had a chance to swim with dolphins and it was pretty amazing… They are mammals… They have emotional lives… It's like playing with a puppy … So sad that they separated this dolphin from its family…

The idea a creature as cute as dolphin can die is the evidence that life really sucks, glad it has the ability to commit suicide rather than continuing this torture in life. RIP buddy.

I looked up dolphin suicides after seeing this thread and came across the story of Peter who committed suicide in the 60s.

I immediately remembered a book I read years ago which really impressed me at the time and was obviously based on Peter and Margaret Howe.

I had no idea that book was based on a true story. It's called Easy Travel to Other Planets and is by Ted Mooney.

Some things are changed in the book including Peter's death.

No living being should be kept in captivity.
