  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I feel it is poetic in a way. To die exactly on your birthday. Having lived not a day less not a day more. To me it feels romantic and nice. Also it will be in the news that I ctbed on my birthday. I like being talked about. I like publicity, nice one though.

That's an actual phenomenon called the Birthday Blues, which is a way sillier name for what it is imo. But yeah there is a way higher risk of suicide on ones birthday, maybe because of stress, the age realization, or a poetic feel to it like you say, haven't read much about it. I get it though. It could also make it a little easier for the family as there wouldn't be two days to mourn you in the year, or to be reminded of you, both birth and death day, since it's just one day, just one big "You" day a year. It could also work the opposite way I don't know either. I'd first blow the candles and make a wish though that's for sure.

I've thought about this. It's an excellent way to save space on your gravestone. Usually your gravestone will display death date and Birth date. But you'll just need one date on yours.

Too much pressure.

The fear of failing becomes even greater because "it has to happen that one special day" of the year (be it Christmas eve, new years eve, April fools day, or your birthday for that matter).

You also run the risk of having some unexpected event boycott your attempt (i.e: someone close to you is in a dire situation that requires your involvement).

Since it's your birthday, as people can't contact you to congratulate you, they might get suspicious and run a wellness check on you that might end up in a dangerous interruption of your attempt.

Just my limited view of such situation.
