Man, I got some dumb people in my life. Half of my family and relatives are brain-dead stupid people that don't understand anything, just no sophistication or sense for nuances whatsoever. They only enjoy most primitive things. One person close to me is so dumb that it feels like talking to an artificial intelligence robot. And a dumb one that is. No character and only repeats what's obvious. I've been kinda managing to put up with in my life when things were going well for me, but now it just feels like their stupidity is being rubbed in my face. I'm here contemplating suicide while they're doing just fine in life with half a pea of a brain. I tried to do everything right and the stupid backwards people ended up having more of a life than me. How is that for fair?

Depends. Are they "stupid" because they have a learning problem. No I don't mind at all and I'll even help.
Are they a douche that talks themselves up and then I do better? Yes..... Yes I hate you a lot. (this one spoken from personal experience: my "husband" :meh::meh:)

Yes very much so.
I don't consider myself a brainiac, but I sometimes feel I'm surrounded by terribly dumb (uneducated? Inexperienced?) people.

When you dig a bit deeper most (not all of course) are simply not able to grasp different concepts, they don't foresee the
consequences of their own actions. They are unable (and misinformed) to fully assess their own or someone else's situation.

It's rather tragic really.

I think stupidity is fair game. I think we're all idiots to some degree. It's the conviction others have about their beliefs that I find more egregious. Stubbornness, so convinced that they're right, and all the anger and pettiness that comes along with it. Like when I see people prattling on about conspiracies or politics or really any world event, I just think "my God man." But then that could just be my own insecurities talking. I've never felt sure enough of myself to truly own my opinions.

I don't think ignorance always results in bliss. In fact, ignorance and stupidity appear to be two of the major causes of suffering (e.g. fear, hatred, discrimination, persecution, violence, abuse, neglect, ect).

I think that people who are ignorant and live a little apart from the world are often happier than those who are aware of everything.

And because they can't see how this makes their lives miserable, they will never change.

Certain others' stupidly is a big part of why I feel like suicide is the only way out for me. I have my own problems, but their bullshit has made it so much worse.

I would also like to add that ignorance can also render individuals more vulnerable to impending threats, which often results in a great deal of suffering when these dilemmas and disasters strike. When someone is aware of the oncoming dangers and obstacles, and uses their time and energy for preparation, they can better adapt to these situations and significantly reduce or even prevent their suffering.

I know somebody who repeats most of the last things I say back to me, and makes out like he just said it. Plus, he only cares about his own needs and is a materialistic moocher. His family made him that way (think of the Wormwoods in Matilda). In fact the more I think of people like that, the more I realise why I want to ctb in the first place:pfff: Humans suck (apart from everybody here haha)

You aren't completely wrong but think about this. Politics and conspiracies supposedly touch subjects that will, like or not, affect our personal lives, like police harassing you to put a mask on your face or the removal/installment of religion in schools. People notice that this stuff will decide where society goes, that's why they become so agitated.

I think that people who are ignorant and live a little apart from the world are often happier than those who are aware of everything.

I feel this a lot. I think being disconnected from others and just focusing on your individualistic life brings them more happiness than being in a perpetual existencial angst towards yourself and the world.

If this is why people are able to pursue happiness is it even a good thing then to be happy?

I consider myself to not be an intelligent person, and this breaks me a lot. I wish I was smarter. So I try really hard to read and be aware of things.

For me what I don't like is people who turn a blind eye and having the means to search for something more, they settle in their nothingness. But to be honest I don't have enough of a mental energy to really hate on these things. It's too much trouble to brood on people's ignorance and I would rather not engage.

The older I get, the dumber I realize I am, and yes, I annoy the shit out of myself. It's embarrassing. I have always wished that I was more intelligent—especially when it comes to memory. Mine stinks, and isn't getting any better. The only problem seems to be that, despite how ignorant I am, I've never been happy…

Low hanging fruit but good point, sometimes I communicate very poorly. Though you will admit there is a reason why people rattle on about politics and such.

Well what I'm talking about is the blind conviction a person has that they're correct on a deeply involved topic, when they can't possibly know. Taking an issue personally I can understand. But I think anyone of average or above average intelligence should be able to see that the world is complicated and that their line of thinking is probably not on the money. I see so much black and white thinking, and a hell of a lot of confirmation bias by those around me.

Sometimes it's good to just admit you don't know.

Between skepticism and gut feeling lies the perfect spot. Pure skepticism is conformism or inaction, the other extreme is fanaticism. We certainly should feel some passion when discussing how the world is run and how that affects our personal lives.

Also, I shouldn't rate people when responding to them, it never works. 🤣

I blame my parents for this problematic way of discussing.

Yes. I have never cared much about people's ignorance, but I have noticed people have a gigantic tendency to pretend to know about what they don't, and this makes me very frustrated. I am the person who teaches almost everything people around me know, and I would have no problem with that if they were not empty, but still self-centered individuals. No one cares about anything but the content of these apps that deliver dopamine instantly. They can't think about anything that's minimally deeper. When I talk to the people around me, I have the same impression as you: they seem like artificial intelligence.
And I'm sorry if the text sounded egocentric. This was not my intention at all.

No because we can't be smart all the times. Along with being a hypocrite, humans are not perfect, no one is. It's when they purposely wrong people and still do it even they are reprimanded is what makes it annoying.

And you know what even worse, when they claim you're lack of awareness or experience. Say the older generations. I completely understand that there are likely many mature people on here but damn, how many bloody Karen's are going to look at me in the face and say 'wait until you get to my age, then we can talk about struggle'. Like holy shit people. Why do you think your DOB signifies maturity????

Maturity doesn't correlate with intelligence, often the older people get, the dumber and more unbearable they become. Often maturity only means they are better at emotionally abusing younger people.

Maturity is one of many vague concepts where humans (ab)use its abiguity for bolstering their own ego, persona, and status while simultaneously judging, silencing, and degrading their opponents. Society's definition of maturity isn't focused on personal growth, but on conformity. Personally, I regard mindless conformity as immature since it stunts the individual's mind.
