It depends on why you commit suicide. God is just and merciful. Most people go to heaven in accordance with his will that everyone come to him. If you have a genuine reason for ending your life on earth, God understands and will show you mercy.

My parents both committed suicide and the priests at their funerals were pretty much like "yeah no it's fine they totally went to heaven". I think there's no way for us to know (in the event god is real anyway) and it's all empty platitudes.

Yes, because there's two reasons people commit suicide. One is that they are hurting so badly in the moment that they are desperate to stop the psych or physical pain, then there are the rational ones where someone absolutely had no other choice because it was coming anyway or really terrible conditions were underway and was not going to change or get better. I don't think God would be so much of a dick that he would punish u when you're already in that kind of pain wether it's rational or irrational. I forgot accidental suicide. I'm sure that happens too.

I am not a God type person.

However. For those of you who are. God would not have invented suicide if he didn't agree with it.

After all. He didn't invent a magic pill to help me lose weight. He invented my cooking though, which certainly helps with one losing weight. Heck. if one eats it, it will kill you.

I was wrong. God is pro suicide. He invented my cooking which kills on contact.

I keep hearing about your bad cooking @Jean4
I mean, c'mon, it can't be that bad....
Can it ?!

Perhaps some of the more evil people of this world will be forced to eat your cooking in the afterlife......
Or do you think nobody is quite THAT evil...... ?

Personally, I am terrified about the idea that if one commits suicide, they will go to hell. I do not know why one would go to hell after they suffered so much on Earth though. It seems really unreasonable and unfair that only more pain awaits after death. But still, the question remains if God would forgive people like me.
That's a very complicated question. Aren't we in hell now? No matter how much people suffer now, and in the past, for the vast majority, the pain and suffering only increases with time, unless one is privileged with caring family and money. But, I've asked myself your question from time to time, and though I believe deeply God, I think of him suffering on the cross. I've thought, if suffering could be condensed to three days of physical intensity, would not our suffering here in hell be sufficient to say that one can still depend on what Jesus told the other sinner on the cross next to him; on this day you will be in the kingdom of heaven, whatever that is? I believe we are saved by Jesus teachings, to proclaim his name in any death. Best wishes.

The perfect hell is the one we are living in... So worst case scenario, going to hell is just being reincarnated.
I've got to agree. I wish I've never known life. At times, i feel what i think seems ungrateful.

per scripture, God didn't invent anything man chooses, he gave humans to choose good or evil in the garden of Eden. I don't personally think suicide is evil, but I do think everything possible should be done to protect those we leave behind, that we do not leave evil to them. We can, as He preached, heal the sick and feed the hungry. Nevertheless, fickle fate has written that unjust pain and suffering will inflict many. All who believe will be forgiven at any point, even to the moment of death or suicide.

I was always taught that suicide is a sin. I was taught a lot of things though that seem contradictory and wrong when it comes to christianity. The odd thing is these things always came from honest good people who truly believed those things. This is the kind of stuff that pushed me away from religion entirely and now I don't believe in anything. Would God forgive suicide? I guess so, because if he doesn't, then he is nothing but a worthless deity who doesn't actually care about us despite people preaching otherwise.

You have nothing to worry about for two reasons.

1. God's will is for everyone to be with him.
2. God's will can't be thwarted.

The early church taught universal salvation and reincarnation. It wasn't until the Catholic church made its doctrine based on eternal hell for sinners that everyone assumed eternal hell was the default destination of every person who didn't adhere to a strict set of rules. Who would you believe? The early church with only the original texts, or a church that cut out what they didn't like and added purgatory, something Jesus never mentioned?

I suppose it seems contradictory, one that God loves everyone equally ("knows every hair on everyone's head). So why is it written that God favored certain people, like King David, who himself was a murderer of the most selfish motives. Then, the question asked and written about so much "why do good people suffer". There seems no distinction between those who follow the basic principles of the Commandments (thou shall not lie, steal, kill, etc, etc), and those who not only don't, but often get away with the most evil deeds without seeming accountable. Are we to think their recompense is hell, when so many believe that life IS hell. I do believe that God would forgive anything and everything; if one seeks forgiveness and redemption at any time

Very true, but Jesus did mention Satan, in his days in the wilderness without food or water where he was tempted by him. Also, we don't need a strict set of rule, there is an original set most simple in the ten commandments. Everything thing else, ritual etc. is just added propaganda and invented.

Can I forgive some "god" that allows such pain and suffering to go on in this crazy world, to innocent people and animals?!
