I used to have a gun but I had it for several months and then sold it. I would point it unloaded at my head and pull the trigger. But I always got too scared to load it. Part of it is because I've never shot a gun before, it's just scary to me. I was even scared to test the gun shooting at something else first. And it's loud and who knows what else I would hit?

Is drinking SN easier? I could practice by mixing some table salt in water and drinking that. It seems like just drinking a salty-tasting glass of water wouldn't be that scary. It might not even work especially if I just do the SN and not all the other drugs that are recommended in the megathread.

Any other tips for getting over SI?

Just my perspective but I would think that maybe the actual act of drinking SN may well be easier than putting a gun to your head and pulling the trigger- in terms of SI. Still- I haven't tried either.

BUT- SN seems to take around 20 minutes upwards before the person becomes unconscious. In which time- people seem to report varying severity of symptoms. Some people seem to pass more peacefully than others. A couple of typical symptoms include nausia, rapid heart rate, a shortness of breath, a headache, dizzyness and ringing in the ears, and fingertips turning blue (from memory.) This HAS been enough to set off some people's SI and caused them to ring for help.

I guess the way I see it is- a gunshot likely takes more guts to get over the SI initially but if done successfully, I guess that's it. Whereas maybe SN would be easier to do initially but you then have a longer period in which to battle your SI.

I tried 3g of table salt in 50ml water as a kind of test run. I'd fasted but took none of the other parts of the protocol. Nausea started almost immediately and I vomited it all up at about ten minutes

No SI because I knew it was "just" salt. SI is there when I think of my SN date coming up. Fear of the unknown, fear of symptoms (especially shortness of breath): It's a total pain and I'll be devastated if it causes me to fail.

I'm trying to find any ways of reducing SI - alcohol obviously isn't an option.
So if anything, drinking the SN and especially the buildup to doing it, is only going to increase SI, not decrease it
