I hate this. They make my life objectively worse and make me suffer more, but like half the neuroleptics I've taken made my SI go into overdrive.

Makes life a living hell, and dying too. It's not like they help or helped me at all, but they sure make dying feel a lot scarier. So I just hate life even more and yet suffer too much and hesitate in fear of dying. And they wonder why I don't take them...

Is that a common or the intended effect of such meds? Just make people afraid of dying or boost them into being more instinctive and less rational?

It is a common and probably intended effect. I'm on lithium, which is notorious for being an "anti-suicide drug". I will say that when I'm feeling overall better, I like this effect. It allows me to handle bad things without immediately thinking of dying as a solution. When I'm feeling like shit, though, I totally understand what you're saying. You feel like garbage and then you can't even bring yourself to ctb.
