Discussion Does anyone here not get emotional over things like animal cruelty, terrorism, deaths on TV?

My friend and psychiatrist said I might be a sociopath because I don't seem to care when watching stories about humans or animals suffer. In particular animal cruelty, I'm numb to it. I don't think it's acceptable and people who do it are sick in the head, but I don't ever get angry like you see in YouTube comments to the point where some say "I want to beat the shit out of animal abusers". It doesn't make me angry or happy.

I've also seen disgusting stuff on the dark web which another classmate was taking about how he saw children being abused, and I didn't get that anger. Again, I think it's unacceptable but I don't feel anger at it or pretty much any suffering.

Animal and child cruelty is what gets to me, especially animal cruelty & I can't watch it now, even with animals like rats/mice etc. It makes me sad more than anything not angry.
I can just about watch everything else and just think how low people can be to each other but don't get that emotional.

My grand cousin is a psychopath and collaborated at the murder of his father. As a kid, he would bomb firecrackers in anthills or tear off the wings of flying ants. Common things a lot of kids do ?

Next thing, turn vegan, you'll get on full redemption and can untag yourself free (teasing you, it's possible to be a good person without, fortunately)

Where's the demarcation line, stuck somewhere between the is and isn't ?

i don't feel anything for any of those things tbh, i can't actually recall being upset by them when i was younger either, besides animal related things, but idk. i don't think i've become desensitise bc it's not like i've seen a lot of content related to this shit. think it's just my apathy getting worse and worse lol

I feel like I used to be that way as an edgy teen but now that I'm older, I'm more bothered by violence, even the fictional kind. I think it's a mix of being more empathetic in general and being more sensitive due to feeling like my own death is approaching.

I think as long as you acknowledge that it's wrong and sick, you're not a sociopath. Sociopaths just plain don't care, it evokes nothing not even condemnation. Animal abuse is my biggest trigger, I don't show emotion but inside I'm horrified and disappointed in humanity once again, it makes me want the entire world to blow up, or big portions of humanity to be killed. I feel rage and vengeance for it. Obviously if an animal was being abused right infront of me I'd do everything to stop it, I'd even jump infront of cars to save a raccoon or skunk. Something about animals in particular I really really cherish them. Children are humans and they will grow up to be abusers, and abusers were once children, and humans have the awareness to know better, so I'd probably save an animal over a child. But child sexual abuse really really angers me, and children starving, no child in this world should be starving when 1 person has billions of dollars.

Animal cruelty sets me off. People I know say that if reincarnation is real they would like to come back as my pet when they die.

That being said watching crappy people die pleases me mightily. I would never willingly harm anyone who I deem to be a good person but would love to shoot a shitbag. I carried a pistol for decades just hoping for the chance but people stop messing you around when you are more than willing to kill them.

I am unable to feel any emotions (excluding wrath) or affective empathy, therefore I am usually rather apathetic, yet speciesism always tries my patience and self-control.
Even your "humans or animals" (which should be "humans or other animals") makes my blood boil.
