I'm just curious how people felt regarding school. Personally for me, I don't like the stress school generated for and the hours of sleep it takes away from me each day. School starts at 6:30am for me each day so that means waking up at 5:30 sadly. At least this is my last year of High school which means heading to college at afterwards. College doesn't stop me from CTB though.

I personally had a great school life. My home and personal life, different story lol. I miss school, it was an escape for me.

oh wow, never had a school with that many hours but I guess oz schools are more lenient. primary and high school for me started at 9am and finished at 3-3.30pm and yes, college where the days I was stuck with self harming myself for a few years.
25 yrs old now, I gave up that a few years ago, was a long recovery yes, but looking at the scars always brings back bad memories.
Worked so many jobs since I dropped high school at 17, they all had weird hours. my current job is cruisy, I can work 4 hr shift or an 8hr shift.(5-9am or 5am-1pm)

My school life felt awful. I was bullied everyday for my appearance. I can't really comment too much about college because I dropped out after a short amount of time (couldn't cope with it because of depression, anxiety and stress). It wasn't something I wanted to do anyway and more got pushed into doing.

I absolutely hated school. Most teachers seem to have this talent for making learning feel like a punishment instead of an opportunity. Plus, our educational system doesn't put enough effort into teaching children how to learn and scoffs at creative/experimental teaching methods. They take the human brain, the most complex thing in the known universe, and put it in a linear and institutionalized environment. Not a good recipe for evolving the mind.

School is a fucking waste of time, they don't teach you anything even remotely useful.

I stayed away as much as possible without getting into too much trouble. I knew exactly which teachers didn't keep attendance (many of them) and I forged sicknotes. Some weeks all I did was get up in the morning, pretend to go by leaving on my bicycle, wait in the park on a bench for an hour (so my parents were off to work), then go back home and sleep.

I had to redo years because of that. Eventually I graduated because I did show up enough to make tests and got passable grades.

My school life is great...definitely feels like an escape at times...sadly this is my last year so i guess I'm about to loose even that respite soon enough...

I personally am cool with teachers, teachers are really cool. What I really hate is the environment that is often set. You can't really blame the teachers since they are doing what the district/administration wants them to do.

jesus
what school fam

I have an extra class on my schedule so that's why I have to wake up early sadly

How did you manage not to fail in school?

Like Lunar said, depression, anxiety, humiliation and stress causes a lot of people to fail in school. I'm suprised you can keep up. A lot of people (including me) fail at school. And let's be honest, school is a waste of time.

I thought about getting an apprenticeship but I'm not even sure if I can handle that so CTB is the only option for me.

I'm still at school. Year 11 in a small school with about 16 kids in year 11 and 12. I have always hated school, hate the idea you take days to do an assignment just so you can get a mark and from then on you never need to think about it. Doing work just so you can forget it, in high school that was fine because I would learn something, but I find in the final years you don't realy learn anything. The stress of getting a good mark for multiple subjects didn't help, which for me didn't help because I don't want to go to uni, I'm already at TAFE doing a trade.

Why go to uni anyway? So I can get a useless degree after 6-7 years of hard work and then work in a shitty wage-slave job (if I can even find a job) with a ton of debt to pay off for the rest of my life? Hell no.

The problem is the way the school treat mental illness. Miss a ton of school because of mental illnesses? Well too bad, if those were unexcused absences, you and your parents are going to be slapped down with fines and other sorts of punishments just because mental illnesses aren't physical. Even if it was excused, you can still get punished somehow if you missed a lot and some schools/colleges will automatically fail you if you miss amount of absences excused or not. It's just sad how some schools treat mental illness as if it was nothing. That's exactly why the suicide rate among teens is high because of the problems/stress that can be generated from high school and on top of the social anxiety you can face.

The way schools treat mental health is abhorrent, at least in Australia. I'm in year 10, and the only time my school ever takes notice of depression is on R U O.K. Day, and even then, it is a meaningless gesture they are forced to make.

I managed to resist until before high school. Then at high school, a combination of my mother that required from me nothing less than excellence and professors that were psychotic assholes whose target was humiliating you because you weren't worthy, well all of this made me exploding. I got eating disorder, social anxiety and much more.

There is a whole bunch of professors and learning "professionals" who should be exterminated, with no half-baked words. They repress intelligence, creativity, sociality. They ruin the life of persons. They just want to make you a mediocre toy soldier to be exploited by society of pigs.

I was joyful, curious and expansive. School made me sad, alone and suicidal.

Yup,I despise school. I hate studying.

College is thankfully not as bad as my elementary-high school years. (I don't have to deal with bullies anymore),but I still hate studying the shit I'm forced to.

I also do. I'm in college but I'm very worried about my future. I don't know if I'll be able to get accepted into the program for my dream career and I honestly don't know what else I would do.

What I've heard/seen, college is a holy grail once you leave high school because you get a ton of freedoms. I don't see myself being alive before I go to college though.

I was bullied in elementary school, I'm really happy and fortunate though to know people that are considerate and nice to me in high school. I do suffer from really bad OCD and some social anxiety so just interacting with some people tends to give me the internal scare from my OCD.
