I mostly listen to J-pop so

I figure like I'm already miserable, at least the music I listen to doesn't have to be.

Most of the music I listen to is very fast-paced so I guess it could be considered happy.

There's one song I love which sounds really happy but it's actually about being depressed. It's called fake happy by Paramore. I listen to that a lot.

The music I listen to nowadays is happy, aggressive, laid-back, funky, everything but sad. With few exceptions, I really can't stand sad music nowadays.

No, I try to find dark/cynical music otherwise it brings me further down. I feel like I've exhausted Boyd Rice, Death in June and Current 93 but if I get any darker I'll have to listen to industrial noise with sadomasochistic themes, which I don't usually enjoy listening to.

I didn't think anyone listen to those bands nowadays! "Total War", "The Torture Garden", "Lucifer over London" etc. are masterpieces. Do you like Sol Invictus and Diamanda Galas too?

Yeah I only found out about them through youtube. I think I went from a type of extreme metal that focuses just on loud low vibrations to the Swans and somehow got to Coil (who I still love) from which I got to these bands eventually. I'd heard of Diamanda Galas but at the time I wasn't really interested in that style. If s/he is similar to these bands I'll search and try it out, thanks. I have come across Sol Invictus but it never caught on with me. Maybe will give it another try as well. I agree about the songs you mention, they're timeless masterpieces for sure.

I love upbeat music...especially electronic tunes you can dance to. I love to dance and sometimes cry while doing so, haha.

I think I saw that post earlier lol. I'm not familiar with it but it's pretty much what I was referring to. I'm familiar with some other ones including one in particular called "Pink Turns Blue" i think. it's all pretty fucked up. you've gotta be in pretty crazy place to end up devoting yourself to making that kind of 'music' lol. But apparently it's actually somewhat popular...not sure why i'm surprised given the recent popularity of things like 'fifty shades of grey'. I should probably start listening to it more so i can become more...manly, i guess.
