Depends how much credence you give to NDEs. Dr Eben Alexander(neurosurgeon) wrote a book about life after death and how his NDE profoundly altered his worldview. He mentioned that consciousness is a huge mystery and a lot of assumptions surround it in our modern day science. The guy was brain dead when he had his NDE which makes his story all the more compelling. He doesn't sound or look like a crook, in fact, its very hard for a scientist to come out and make radical claims about life after death when most of the scientific community deem it hocus pocus. His testimony is among the most compelling to me for a couple reasons. 1.) the guy is a scientist and an intellectual. 2.) he was brain dead at the time of his NDE. In his interviews on YouTube he mentions the afterlife as being way more vivid and "real" than this life. Since he was brain dead, it's hard to connect how a completely malfunctioned brain could bring about such a vivid world.
