I use the internet a lot because I don't have much to do. Going outside and doing things costs money and I'm poor lol. I find myself blocking people often and deleting social apps and accounts because I can't stand many people on the internet. I've deleted Reddit, discord, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter and more. But I'm on the internet everyday all day lol. I think if my situation was better I'd be offline more and probably happier. How about you?

Yeah, that's an accurate assessment. I used to like skateboarding and gardening, I would spend minimum time online. That was before my health went to shit.

Both. I use internet because I've nothing to do, but it's also because I love it. I think the balance would be the healthiest and the best way. The internet has a lot to offer. It's not just social media. But I wish I had more exciting stuff to do in real life, so I wouldn't need to browse online all the time to distract and occupy myself.

I start my days on the internet for work, and stay because I am too depressed to do anything else

If I'm not working, it's the same, just with a higher proportion of time spent on my phone instead of on my comptuer.

A bit of both really. I do love the internet. I do have a lot of time on my hands. It's also a way to feel connected. Can no longer imagine a life with no internet but glad in a way I went for the first 30 plus years of my life without it. It's good the temptation to become even less social than I already was, just wasn't there.

Both for me, too. Using the internet is important to the types of work, both paid and volunteer, I do. And having access to information as I tend to research and over-analyze nearly everything is easier with the internet than staying up all night going through my books or waiting for a library to open.

But a lot of time is spent from having nothing better to do (or not wanting to do those other things), including researching things I suddenly decide I need to know even though they don't really matter.

But much of social media has been awful, especially as I see what it can do to friends and family. I don't use it much now but used to a lot (mostly before Fb/T as I'm old) especially when I was full of self-loathing over my appearance.

Anyway, I have found taking time to get away from it, usually by going for a walk (which doesn't cost anything) or a bike ride (once I got a bike) helps me to feel better. Or even going back to my paper books or writing with a pen and paper.

Paper books! Yesss! Good old paper books. I want to go back to them but unlike my iPhone it requires effort!

I know what you mean, I only really like myself on the internet, everyone else kind of sucks. But yeah I've spent most of my life on this thing. It's a love/hate relationship I suppose. It's made it too easy for me to retreat into my own cocoon but then the real world feels like such a shitshow that it's no wonder many of us spend so much time online. If I'm not on my laptop I'm scrolling on my phone. I don't even absorb anything really, I'm just kind of zombified/glazed-over with it.

These days I have killer fatigue though so whereas it used to just be something of a hobby, it's now basically a necessity.

I am just too used to the constant barrage of stimulation. I can't sit still 5 minutes without checking my phone and not because I am getting any messages. I used to browse reddit, now this is my usual rabbit hole.

I don't love it. It's filled with the same people and things as real life. Worse in some ways, and getting worse everyday. The few distractions it provided to me are dwindling or becoming unbearable. I would not spend more time outside or be happier if I didn't have the internet. I would probably read books inside all day as I did in my childhood or have killed myself already since I have nothing to distract myself with and no way of connecting with anyone else.

I do not love it, I do not enjoy anything, the internet often makes me feel worse, it gives me anxiety and makes me feel tired. I really do not have much else to do, I get bored of watching the TV after a certain amount of time, I struggle to concentrate in general, and my days are very long. All that I ever do is try to pass the time until I fall asleep. I do not live, I just exist. There is just no point to it all and I have these same thoughts everyday.

I actually hate the internet I would prfer to be elsewhere I remember as a child I was happy.
But yes the cost of things and the fact I'm ugly have no friends ect makes being a normie impossible.
Not that normies aren't also connected to the internet 24/7 now anyway. Aha, I guess I'd still be a weirdo just one from the opposite end.

I certainly don't love the internet, since I've suspended all my social media accounts.

I think the Internet is very useful but, at the same time, it could be also very toxic and harmful to mental health.

Since I suspended my social accounts, I realized that most people, myself included, waste a lot of time on it, on a daily basis.

As such, I currently only use this forum for coping and talking to someone.

Both. I feel like I need the internet in a way. I'm very isolated offline and so it helps to talk to and hear other people's opinions, even if it's just online. It helps keep me sane I think, and it also makes me up to date on the newest "things" so that I'm not lost in conversation.
