Basically hanging is cheap, a rope doesn't cost more than about $20. I've always thought about drop hanging as a method. Cheap effective and painless. According to 19th century research I need about 5' to 6' of drop, no more no less. The questions come from how to anchor the top to a strong enough point.

Tie a noose on the bottom, and even the other side. Find a strong enough tree limb, 12"+ thick and roughly parallel to the ground. Use something like a razor wire or even sandpaper to carve a groove into the tree limb, affix the top noose to the groove in the tree to attach. If I had a way to climb the tree, maybe just a ladder, put the top noose ring on the tree and the bottom loop around the neck, and just fall off the tree limb

Long drop isn't straightforward but you already calculated your drop. You need a hangman knot not a simple noose.

Painless ? Certainly not ! It's not because the neck could be broken that it means it's painless. When the neck is broken, you can't move from your toes to your neck, but you're not into inconsciousness faster than with other full suspensions and you feel the pain at your neck and into your head exactly the same, it will need between 10-20 seconds before falling into unconsciousness, like with other full suspensions. Broken neck is a myth, unfortunately.

How is it a myth? That doesn't make any sense. Physics exists. It's why you need to get the drop height correct, yes, but the neck and spinal cord are not invincible and 200 lbs falling 6ft is a lot of force
