  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

yeah, i guess the more connections you have, the greater the incentive to recover?

I have no partner, but I have friends and family. I guess I am blessed. But that has not prevented my suicidal thoughts and desires. Kinda feeling guilty.

Having people around doesn't always mean they understand, or that they can reach you in the place where it actually hurts. So yeah, maybe a healthy social life helps some people, but it's not a guaranteed fix, and sometimes it just makes the emptiness stand out more.

And can pls tell how to post a thread? im new here.

Most definitely, being alone just means it's only between you and your thoughts. That can lead to some bad assumptions and drive you further into insanity.

With other people, you can get more perspectives on your own thoughts and feelings, and you're not just trapped in some self conceived echo chamber.

I don't think so! I think a healthy outlook on relationships would do one better. E.g being comfortable with who they have, understanding communication, how people work etc.

I don't think there is a clear-cut 'healthy' version of a social life! It can't be healthy all the time! But as long as you can maintain relationships I think you're set. It just takes time

having friends and family didn't really help me either but a partner did
I Agree, especially since you can be more open to someone like a partner compared to family or friends. I've once lucky enough to meet a gf who puts color in my life. Although I fucked up that relationship and life came crushing down on me again, which is why I'm here.

I'd say it's mandatory, but not a guarantee. Toxic social lives just makes things worse, and no social life means you're isolated and deprived of a basic human need. Even with this, you may still suffer from suicidal ideation as there's more to life than just society. There's a balance one must find in order to understand their place not in the world, but within themselves as well. It's hard to know who you are without someone else to show you how you differ.

Yes, it is important, and not just for recovery. It's important all the time. But how many people you need in your life will depend on your personality. Some people need a lot. Others (like me) need very few.

Yes it is but still I don't have the inclination to let anyone into my life anymore. I'd rather suffer on my own than let someone else cause me suffering.

Important yes, necessary no. Being friends with yourself is most important, self compassion, giving yourself grace
