About the title, do you think FT26 will get the laws it proposes for the internet passed?

Nope. FT26 boasts about having a bunch of followers on social media, and about some petitions (Petitions on Change.org which don't do anything). Their power is restricted to their little Twitter group for the most part. The most danger posed to this site recently was the NYT article and some US lawmakers trying to attack us. Haven't seen any sort of action regarding that since then, so chances are they've forgotten about us.

I don't know about these guys specifically (just looked them up now), but I'm wary of any group/org/etc that tries to limit speech and/or other rights in the name of "saftey". Not believing it could happen is what got us the PATRIOT act.

Has anyone even heard of FT26 outside of this site? I haven't paid that much attention but it seems like not a very serious movement, more like venting presented as activism.

No. Even if pressure is brought to where the host for this site says go—it'll simply (or something like it) pop up someplace else. The internet is ultimately ungovernable, unless you're in China or N. Korea. Even then…

Ultimately, also, there's a freedom of speech issue. Let ppl yap, it won't make a difference…

I'm not really familiar with them besides the bits I've read here, but honestly there's so much uncensored things on the internet like gore sites (which I don't understand how they exist) and things that are still hosted and available. I don't really blame people for being upset or angry if someone they loved passed from suicide, a lot of people can't grasp the concept. I see both sides, but I don't think this site is going down and most people that have been here long enough probably know most of the methods and could find them discussed on other sites just not as neatly as organized and openly discussed as they are on here.

They might get some type of law passed, we'll have to see. there is a risk here, they have the attention of members of congress- it's not like congress has never passed bad laws before.
