I do and I am unlikely to ever get out. Another reason to CTB.

Apartments are extremely expensive and jobs don't pay well. Just a few of the reasons why...

Yeah I could move out but I don't care enough to. When I have no future I might as well enjoy the laziness of living with my parents.

Yup. Its socially acceptable where I live if you're not married(or heck, even if you are depending on how poor you are),but I do hope I could one day live by myself someday. Having to live with your parents makes planning to CTB that much harder.

aren't you in Germany?
is it really THAT bad? I mean if you don't live in Berlin or Munich or a crazy place like that, apartments are sort of affordable even if you work minimum wage (they're going to raise it)

Don't believe the shit you read on reddit. Life is shit in Germany, pretty much every western country. You come here as a tourist thinking: Oh, life must be great here but life outside the inner city with the rich people is shit. It's like that in every modern country.

Go down a few streets and you will actually see. If you want to have a good life you have to be rich. These are the basics of capitalism. Nothing new.

Why do people like you always assume life is better everywhere except where you live?

I don't live on the moon you know...I know very well what it is like in Germany and the other countries around it. I also live in Western Europe, just don't want to specify where exactly :pfff: . In Germany you have Hartz IV (getting it is a bitch, though) and unless you are in the places with the super crazy prices (like Berlin or the south) flats are affordable even at minimum wage, for example living alone and working full time at minimum wage. The only problem is that you can't save any money because everything you earn goes for rent, insurances, food and other expenses.

Yes. I'm in a part time job which I couldn't sustain living on my own from.

I'd love to move out but I'm kind of anxious about the process.. So I'm stuck where I am for now.

Yes, even though I'm 24. Lazy and under-employed. A more regular job would make organising a CTB awkward with someone. Awkward because I lack a car, lack money, I'm very useless so no need to poke me about it. So far no luck I've had in the mega thread. The few Australians there are only want to go alone or just aren't sure. Sigh.
So it's very hard living still at home, but it beats being homeless.

I do, I'm only 20. Completely shut in past 2 years. I do all the chores and prepare food for my mother while being unemployed so at least I'm a bit of useful lol. I had a job at restaraunt and I dare to get another, because my health got worse. I'm not disabled but I feel like becoming in next couple of years, no money for treatment and no way for me to get any.
My whole family gave up on me on that matter, though they still care.

What's wrong with living with your parents? I'm living alone atm but am moving back to live with my parents. Much easier, someone to cook for you and clean. Living on your own is only nice for a short period and if you are constantly getting laid or something. In my case this wont happen as my sex system is all fucked up, so there is no point living alone.

I had to move back in after my tenancy agreement was terminated. Thought It'd be easier to find a new flat but atm I'm kinda stuck. Still, I appreciate that I have a place I can return to / stay for a while

I live with (and care for) my 78-year-old bedridden mother. The only times that I have not lived with at least one parent was when I was at Mills College in the mid 1980s and when I was at grad school at UCLA in the early 2000s. Since those episodes ended with my becoming suicidally depressed, I suspect that Mom thinks I am better off living with her.

I wish more people on here thought like this. Great logic ningaman, glad to see it.

It's a modern problem caused by stereotypes and media influence. The problem is not old at all. In pre-industrialized times, so say before 1950s, you had 3 generations or more living under one roof. Houses were usually farm houses so they had a lot of space for a full family and everyone played a role in the household's 'productive capacity'. Usually making their own food or clothes and trading with others for things they didn't have. Grandparents could look after grandchildren while parents took more of the workload due to being in their prime. And then also the parents could look after their parents as they aged, providing far better care than old age homes where apparently the aged are treated like dirt and become severely unhappy.

It's a problem that affects Caucasians the most. Stats show that blacks, Asians and Hispanics are far more reluctant to leave the nest.

It's really not practical when things are so expensive to be splitting up all over the place when one home will do. Some parents are asses but in general it should be positive to live together instead of being alone. They can also get lonely, empty nest syndrome. If only more users on this forum didn't feel so bad about staying with their parents, or vice versa, their parents upset with them still at home into adulthood. Truth is there should be nothing wrong with it.
