Discussion Do you get specific songs stuck in your head?

I woke this morning with Bjork's: 'Play Dead' in my head. Fairly appropriate really- considering my mood:



Do you generally have to listen to a song to have it repeat in your head or, does it just appear? For me- there will be days where songs just appear. A couple of days at work, I've driven myself slightly crazy and then, everyone else when certain song lyrics got lodged in my brain.

At least it was a good song today I suppose. At school once, everyone used to sing the jingle from an annoying commercial. It used to spread around like a yawn.

Sorry everyone. I'll try to stop posting now. I know I've posted a lot today...

Oh my god, do I get songs stuck in my head all the time! I have dubbed my head the "worst radio station ever" as I get a song stuck in my head and it is usually there for over 24 hours before it goes away. It is never the whole song either, maybe just a few lines or at most a single verse. I also have what I call "idle music", where if my brain is not engaged for long enough, it starts playing something repetitive, usually some video game music. Try listening to the Wii theme in your head for 12 hours straight. It is maddening.

Also, I like your threads. I always feel like they're my daily writing prompt. Sometimes you really make me stop and think about a topic, I might not have otherwise contemplated, and I like that.

I don't listen to music much these days anymore. Taylor Swift is about it lol

But I can easily get something stuck in my head if I happen to hear it somewhere. Love the old cheesy pop music They play in my supermarket so that's a leading cause

When I was younger, I was absolutely obsessed with the Broadway musical Rent. Those songs were in my head nonstop. Talk about waking up with it stuck in your head.It was like I couldn't even stop it.

Oh man, every time I listen to a new album I always get a song that'll be stuck in my head for the next week lol. Sometimes I remember random verses/guitar parts or even sounds from some song/video I watched years ago that never leave me and I try to remember where I heard it from. It's really entertaining to do, it's like playing "guess" but with yourself

I'm stuck with "No Children" by The Mountain Goats from Moral Orel now. Especially the pre-chorus and chorus. It feels really peaceful. It would be nice to go for a walk during the golden hour listening to their other songs
