  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Many substances aren't available for the hazardous nature of some, however, do you stand by that? Should I be able to purchase cyanide or other compounds legally, or is it just inconvenient but overall important and necessary?

I don't know. On one hand I think it's so important that those who truly wish to end their suffering are able to obtain the means to do so. On the other hand, there's people in the world with terrible intentions, who might wish to harm others with those same compounds. I believe some element difficulty in obtaining these substances also prevents anyone from being able to act on impulse, which protects those who are young, vulnerable, impulsive, etc. So I really don't know where I stand.

We should all be able to purchase peaceful ways to ctb legally and it's wrong how we cannot. There shouldn't be restrictions in any way. The problem is that we live in a pro suffering and torture society that tries to make suicide as difficult as possible for people and is so focused on prolonging life, it's disturbing how things are this way.

The truth is that there are no disadvantages to being dead, to die solves all problems in which there were never a need for in the first place. Like when I hear of SN being restricted and how people wish to restrict ctb methods it reminds me of how selfish people are, just because they don't want to selfishly lose their family members to suicide, they label suicide as being wrong for everyone and try to trap people in this world. People simply shouldn't have to struggle so much to be free from a life that they never asked for in the first place.

I think the matter is maybe more about killing other people with those chemicals than suicide?

Id have to support such controls. How many truly mentally disturbed people might try to get such compounds to hurt hundreds of people. But small amounts should be available for personal use.

i think it's ethical from a homocide standpoint. those are more known chemicals used in murders than they are associated with suicide. to make them accessible for suicide would make them accessible for homocide and it's not worth the risk in my opinion

SN means Sodium Nitrite which is a popular suicide method on here. There is a mega thread and information in the suicide resource section about this as well as endless threads.
CTB means catch the bus which is an euphemism for someone choosing to die by suicide.

An at home suicide kit should be available to all that wish it. Some of the things that are restricted are for public safety not just to prevent suicide.
