Do we even need a gun

Since guns are hard to come by but bullets arent so much, why do we even need to get a gun to commit CTB ? Wouldn't a bullet and a rudimentary contraption to fire the bullet be sufficient.

Before you go "Duhh that simple contraption is what a gun is ", I want to say it isn't. Gun is a convenient way to fire multiple rounds of ammunition. But we dont need that convenience. We just want a device that will fire a bullet once.

Coming up with this contraption is a worthwhile pursuit, I believe. Your thoughts ??

If reliable, non-regulated guns were that easy to create, there would be a lot more of them out in the world.

Pretty much for a bullet to be effective it not only needs to be in a barrel, but a barrel that is sufficient to withstand such strong pressure and also channel all the kinetic energy (from the combustion of gunpowder) while in the barrel to propel the bullet (the projectile) for the bullet to be lethal. Additionally, creating a barrel DIY (especially without proper materials or knowledge) can easily lead to failure and severe injury, not only just a failed attempt, but one with devastating consequences (severe injury and still alive, maybe debility too).

Not necessarily and this is why so many attempts with small arms fail. Damage needs to be both excessive and global enough to cause the brain to shutdown. A small arms, and especially a homemade one, would likely not be reliable enough nor do enough damage. Brains are also highly, highly, tough organs with a great affinity for healing and relearning. If you want to use a firearm, do not use a homemade one.

Am not even talking about using a firearm. Neither homemade nor Factory made. What I am talking about is a simple setup that will trigger the bullet in a predictable direction, mimicking what a gun trigger does. Check this out.
